Although I only stayed at the Sheraton for one night, they provided excellent service. You pull up to registration and leave your car in the alcove while you register, which was right at the entrance.
Check in was smooth even though we were a bit early. Arrived to our room to a nicely decorated room. Loved the little canopy touch above our bed. The shampoo, conditioner and soaps were all very nice smelling! However, the sheets were disappointing and the many many pillows were all VERY fluffy soft. No firm ones.
I'm not sure if this was the reason, but since there was construction going on near our hotel room, we were given complimentary breakfast coupons. The breakfast was surprisingly tasty. They had hot and cold tiems; pancakes, bacon, corned beef hash, eggs, toast, bagels and yogurt, fruit, oj and guava juices, and DE-lish pastries. If you don't want to wait, you can take some pastries out to go, but I would recommend making time for breakfast.
And since we checked in on a Friday, they offered us complimentary Mai Tai's! On the fruity side and lacking the rum fun, we decided to drink elsewhere that night.
You won't regret your stay at the Sheraton, although your wallet might.Recommended for:

The suite with an ocean view was nice. The room isnʻt amazing and are on the smaller side but the bed is plush. Breakfast was good as were the Pina Coladaʻs. I would recommend staying here. The beach is literally steps away from your room and the staff is very friendly.

In the heart of the popular Poipu area on the west side of Kauai is this Sheraton, right on the beach, perfect for spectacular views of sunsets on the waters.
It is a low rise 4 story complex, with clusters of rooms offering different views and rate plans, i.e., the Garden, Sea, or Beach. I stayed in a beach unit and the waves lulled me to sleep each night.
They have recently remodeled the property to spruce it up, making the pool larger, adding cabanas, and redoing the restaurant into a now RumFire dining experience. Sheraton uses the Rumfire name for its lounge at the Sheraton Waikiki, but here it is food first.
They do have children's programs here, and instruction and instructors on site. When I was there, they had a thing called Snuba, which is part snorkeling, part scuba. But caution: the waters can be a little bit rough depending on the season and weather conditions, so choose your water sport sites wisely.
It is a relaxing location, and you are near the Poipu Village Shopping center, so if you want to find some variety in food and shopping, head over there.Recommended for:

Great resort. Great hotel breakfast and nice location right on the water. Decent surf spot off to left of hotel. Fun slide for the kids and nice hotel pools. I actually like the other side of the Island better as I really like Hanalei bay but we had a nice stay here and would come back.Recommended for:

Great resort with beautiful views, nice beach, pool, and fun waves. Stayed in ocean front room with balcony overlooking the beach and palm trees with huge waves rolling in... I could watch them all day long. We went to Big Save grocery to stock the refrigerator and grab snacks to save on the food/drink bill.Recommended for:

Very nice resort. Good food and drinks. Lovely pool that never felt too crowded. Bar closes at 9:30, but so does the rest of the island. They offer a lot of activities for all ages. Loved that the ocean was steps from the hotel and the pool area, and we spent a lot of time relaxing at the poolside bar.

I stayed here when I ran the Kauai' Marathon back in 2009. The room was centrally located for the marathon, and it's on Poipu, but I didn't think much of the room even though it was a decent enough price. If you can get this at a great price, go for it, but I'd shop around if you are wanting something that is a little closer to a good view and shops, etc.

Great setting. If you want to just chill by the pool or on the beach the hotel works great. At the same time it also provides easy access to many activities on the island (hikes, snorkeling, helicopter rides, boat cruises). NOTE: For most of the activities you'll need access to a car or transport.
Deducted a star for the annoying resort fee ...

**AVERAGE RESORT IN POIPU, KAUAI**
Spent 4 nights here.
*Cultural arts, crafts and activities (yoga, pilates, lei making, etc.)
*Use of tennis courts (8AM-9PM)
*Free local phone calls
*Onsite restaurant (Rum Fire)
*Efficient daily maid service
*Trust-worhy (no one stole our shit from our room)
*Good location to Koloa Old Town (fantastic restaurants and shops)
*Resort fee ($25 daily)
*No free valet service (only on the first night)
*Scratchy hard sheets (not good for sunburnt skin)
*Popcorn ceilings (seriously)
*Below average shower amenities (come on, body wash, biatches!)
*Paper thin walls (yes, imagine those sweet honeymooners)
Overall, a somewhat decent hotel if you don't mind mingling with other tourists. For example, we were watching the sunset with 10 other nearby couples. Not exactly romance in a bottle.
I wouldn't recommend it for honeymoon couples.
Sheraton was packaged with our airfare (from LAX) for $1K PP, so it was a good deal, but would I return to this hotel?
Grand Hyatt was a much better experience.
RECOMMEND for families and couples who prefer convenience over exclusivity.

Hotel is only ok and still under reconstruction so definitely call ahead to double check. Construction takes over half of the hotel. Gym is pretty bad. BUT the ocean view rooms (over pool/white sand beach, not black rocks) are terrific and well worth it. Also, the pool isn't great but it has wonderful access to Poipu/Sheraton beach which is terrific. Also, the pool staff gives you little snacks just for lying there.... :)

This hotel has the most amazing views and the location is awesome!! The Poipu Beach is right there where the hotel is and this place has the most beautiful sunset ever!!
The rooms are nice with flatscreen TV's (movie on demand too), comfy beds, soft sheets and squishy pillows! Every room has a balcony or a patio with chairs and a table to enjoy your view and relax! There is a safe in the room for valubles as well as a mini refrigerator.
The hotel actually has two buildings across the street from each other. The main building is where you check in, the garden view rooms, a pool, retaurants and a bar. The other building has the oceanview/oceanfront rooms, a pool and restaurants. By the way, there is a tennis court at the hotel for those of you interested. The main building has a bar by the pool where they have local musicians come and play everyday. It's nice and relaxing listening to them!
There is parking if you rented a car. The parking area is close to the rooms. There is valet parking as well. They do charge a resort fee per day, so you can call them or check online on their website for this information. When we were here in the summer 2011, we had free breakfast buffet that was included in our stay, but you might want to check with them to see if they still offer this.
The hotel is right on the Poipu Beach whoch is nice. Once again, this beach has the most beautiful sunset! There is a monk seal that lays on he beach right in front of this hotel.
Shopping centers are nearby as well as golf courses and restaurants. The town of Koloa is nearby with shopping and small eateries and there is a post office there too for those who needs to mail anything.
Overall, this hotel has the most amazing views, location, great and friendly hotel staff and rooms! I would stay here a million times and more! Love it!!

We stayed here. Not because its a great hotel but because its in center of road accessible part of kauai... you can pick and choose one coast (north, east, west or south) and explore by driving not more than 30 - 40 mins.. but if you stay up north it takes almost 2 hours to come back to south side or west side to waimyon canyons...

We have stayed there with the family (5 people in 2 rooms). The resort itself is not something I am excited about - just a hotel that charges resort prices :-)
It was raining heavily most of the days we stayed (about a week) but it did not stop us from taking surfing lessons and from hiking the NaPali coast. We had fun, but not going back there soon.

I am not really into big hotels, and the Sheraton in Kauai very big. That said, the beach here is nice, as is the pool. It was definitely not the most mind-blowing amazing resort I have had ever been to, nor did it have a massive water park for kids, but it is a solid, pretty, mid priced resort.
That said I have heard they just did a major remodel - so may be worth double checking.
