The hotel’s got a 1970's mega-hotel aura (and has been slated for total renovation at some point), but the location’s really convenient—a few steps off Kalakaua Ave. (the main shopping and dining strip) and maybe 100 yards to the beach. Actually, I think the rooms are the best feature. After the tired lobby made me wary, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a welcoming, refreshed room interior with plush, white bedding and an impressive partial ocean view from the balcony. Rooms here are on the affordable side for Waikiki.

If you are on a budget but still want a great location then this is a good option.
It is the least expensive of the Starwood Hotels.
The rooms are basic but clean.
The hotel is on the main drag in Waikiki and next to the International Market Place.
There is entertainment down by the pool every night.
A really good option for anyone who would rather spend their money on optional tours and excursions.

This hotel is the cheapest of the 3 starwood options in Waikiki. You won't be getting great beach access here, though it is directly across the street from the Westin Moana Surfrider, they even share a parking garage.
What can be said is that this is a very cheap option that still allows you some of the benefits of being close to the beach. They also have a huge pool and you will most likely end up with a room with a balcony view of the ocean.
Unfortunately the rooms look like they are in serious need of a refresh, which kind of kills the joy at saving money.

Walked into the lobby and attendants were friendly. Hotel was nice, open-air, bar/lounge was close by, pool was conveniently outside but not very private as it was right next to the sidewalk area. Walked into the room and it smelled of stale smoke, even though a non-smoking room was requested. Moved to another floor and room and still a little smell but better than the previous one. The hotel was nice enough to provide robe and slippers upon request. The view was nice, facing the pool and a little view of the ocean, but it was very noisy from the sounds of people playing in the pool during the day and live music in the evening. Prices were pretty low for being in the heart of Waikiki, so I guess can't complain too much...

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is in a great location, right smack in the middle of Waikiki Beach and close to all of shopping and nightlife in the tourist district, but the hotel itself is old and run-down (even though the staff was really friendly and our room was clean, if not a little beat up). The price reflects the product, but I'd recommend saving up a bit more and splurging on another hotel or looking for other affordable alternatives before choosing this hotel. I believe this hotel will be renovated top-to-bottom in the next year or so. Looking forward to seeing what it will be like then!

What can I say about this place?
Well, for one it's on a good location, right at the heart of the famous Waikiki Beach. Only a few hundred yards walking distance to the beach, and if you are adventureous enough. You could walk to Diamond Head park,
I have stayed in a 3-stars and a much better place than this hotel throughout my travels. But, for certain this is not that bad. I know I've heard negative feedback about this hotel and that didn't stop me from choosing it, because it was only for one night. My hubby and I love to do an over nighter in town. So, this was the first place that came to mind.
At breakfast you'll encountered an open air seatings near the pool.
Anyway, I guess all and all my experience here was not so bad. The room was nice and roomy for the two of us. We can see just a smidgen the view of the beach from our room. Although we can see the famous "Koko crater/rim" from the distance so that was okay. If you wanted to, you can also avail a couple of chairs and towels to take to the beach. For me that was a plus!
Most of the rooms if you choose, comes with breakfast. I have to tell you though, that you are better off eating in the local area/flavors and much much more cheaper for sure.

This is decent hotel but a little on the lower end of the price scale. Not on the beach but close. Good for groups or team travel, not if you are looking to have a romantic getaway or if you are going to HI for only time in your life. Good location in Waikiki but keep in mind that Waikiki is almost more like a city than a beach resort.

This hotel is moderately priced compared to across Kalakaua Avenue on Waikiki. At any given time, the hotel is 50% occupied by Japanese tourists. I have stayed here several times as it is a good value, across the street from the beach, and close to all the Waikiki tourist shops.

Stayed here with family on my very first trip to Hawaii. It was hard to believe that the hotel lobby was open air. Went to the pool almost everyday, and always in time to see the musical performers in the early evening, along with hula dancers. We also received a lovely gift basket from the hotel halfway through the trip. The location is excellent as it's only steps away from both the International Marketplace and Waikiki Beach. I'm more than likely to consider booking this hotel on a future visit to Hawaii.Recommended for:Family Travelers

The Princess Kaiulani is a veteran of Waikiki tourism, offering nice clean rooms in the hubbub's midst. It does not have an ocean view to speak of (unless, on certain balconies you lean out and crane), but it is central on the strip. Live music occurs by the pool every night, so I recommend getting a room as high as possible on the non-courtyard side.
Dining options include the open-air Pikake Terrace restaurant and Splash Bar, located poolside. Room service is available during selected hours. This 3.0 star hotel also features nightly live Hawaiian music and hula by the pool; cultural experiences ranging from pineapple carving to ukulele lessons, lei making and historic property tours; and Creation: A Polynesian Journey, Waikiki's longest-running live Polynesian show. Recreational amenities include an outdoor pool and a fitness facility. Hotel attendants also visit guests on the beach to offer fresh fruit and water. A business center, meeting rooms, banquet facilities, and audio visual equipment, property-wide Wi-Fi, wedding services, and tour/ticket assistance are also available. Additional property amenities include a concierge desk and multilingual staff. The property is non-smoking.
There are 1,140 guestrooms at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. All include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bedding, televisions with premium cable channels and pay movies, clock radios, voice mail, safes, designer toiletries, mini refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, hair dryers, and shower/tub combinations.
