A beautiful hotel in Little Italy with a great view of the city. The hotel is situated on top of the Symphony Hall.

A great value! I found this hotel for $99/night and it was perfect for what I was looking for. It's located just a few blocks from the bustling Gaslamp district so you can walk to restaurants and nightlife easily. The suite is a nice size, and since the lobby is located on the 12th floor, you'll also get a great view no matter what floor your room is on. There's a pullout sofa bed, so you can easily sleep 4 people in one room. There's an indoor pool and jacuzzi, and a small fitness center. Since their gym is small, they also provide you with a complimentary pass for the gym across the street.

The only con about this place is the overnight parking is $25 and you have to drive very carefully in their self-parking garage. The hotel parking is on the 11th floor. Other than that, I would stay here again!

This was so much better than I thought it would be.
It was a suite and had a seperate living room and bedroon.
The price was good and the location fabulous.
Add to all of that a Heavenly Bed and it was really great!
    I would highly reccomend it!

This Sheraton sounds pretty nice by it's full name, Sheraton Suites Symphony Hall San Diego. It is a 27 floor building in the downtown financial district of San Diego.

But in reality, it isn't as nice as it sounds. Yes, you are downtown in one of the tallest high rise hotels. Yes, it is full service with a restaurant, bar, valet, spa, indoor pool, etc. Yes, it is actually in the same building as Symphony Hall! So maybe you will see Midori, Pinkas Zucherman, Itzchak Perlman, Sophie Mutter, Liang Liang or some other classical Virtuoso staying in the same hotel.

But the "suites", even for the Starwood Gold members like me, are small compared to most other suburban suite hotels like Embassy, or Marriott Suites or even Homewood. The French doors separated the living and bedroom areas couldn't close due to the king size bed in the way.

The lobby is on the 12th floor! And self parking is on the 11th for $22! You are better off opting for Valet, but that is $28 and a 10 minute wait.

You would think service would be impeccable, but most of the staff seemed uncaring and not trained to please guests like most other higher end hotels. Service is below average for this type of hotel.

I did get a great weekend rate of $101/night, but of course, parking made it $130. This is really more of a weekday business hotel, since there isn't much around on weekends you can walk to, so you need to drive or take a cab to the dining and night life.

Personally, I like nice suburban suite hotels where I can park outside my room for free or nearly free, get in and out quickly, have a fridge and microwave in my room (this had a microwave, but no fridge, and still had the old school mini-bar with outrageous prices, vs. the more modern mini-snack store in the lobby) with spacious 2 room suites and 2 flat panel TVs with free Wi-Fi. I felt confined here by valet, being on the 24th floor, and not having any good food close by.

The good thing is, being on the 24th floor, facing the airport from downtown, (if you know SAN and how the planes fly between the hi-rises to land, you know what I mean) I could watch the planes approach at eye-level, and wave to the passengers! Free entertianment!

I last stayed in this hotel during one of my trips to SD for Comic-Con. The rooms were spacious and provided some nice amenities such as a refrigerator and wet bar. It was a decent place to stay, but service was kinda "eh" in terms room cleaning. The location is pretty good and not very far from downtown and the Gaslamp. Just beware that when you walk back to the hotel from the Gaslamp, you will have to climb uphill. What a workout!

A friend got a sah-weet deal for this place during Comic-Con weekend. It was a stop on the shuttle line and several places were within walking distance from the hotel. Their printing station was helpful when we had to get our boarding passes and bar codes for Con. Some of us were even able to make use of the gym and spa/pool. If there's anything I'd give the thumbs down to, it would be the sliding door to the bathroom that didn't lock and housekeeping telling my other friend that they couldn't fix up our room because it wasn't "on their list". Correct me if I'm wrong, but list or no list, shouldn't it be routine to check on all of the rooms regardless? We didn't even hang our "do not disturb" sign, so I have no idea why they would avoid our room. We made our own efforts to keep the space tidy during our stay so there wasn't a chance of them walking in on it and seeing the likes of the aftermath from a tornado. I understand that big events like Con can cause employees to get a bit occupied, but a simple request to have our bed sheets changed is not a difficult one.

Great location if you are going to the Symphony Hall because it is right below. Close proximity to the Gas Lamp and PetCo Park. Our room had a spectacular view of the city and the bay. The bed was very comfortable but the TV in our bedroom was very old. The TV in the living room was a new. I enjoyed the hotel for the price and will stay here again.

This might be one of the only hotels I’ve been to where you check in on the 12th floor. But there’s a number of other reasons why this hotel is pretty cool. For one, it’s right above the San Diego Symphony, so if you’re into that kind of thing you can get package deals here. You can tell it’s also been recently updated, so the rooms (which are all suites) have all the amenities you’d expect from a good hotel. But there’s also a touch of old school here too; old black and white photos of San Diego dot the hotel’s walls, and the wood and chandeliers of the bar give it the slight feeling of a 19th century brasserie. And since it’s a bit removed from the Gaslamp Quarter you don’t have to worry about stepping over vomit and other remnants of the previous nights revelry while entering the hotel.

couch seemed dirty, they have starbucks coffee in the rooms, but they neglected to clean the pot. Asked for a new one but it never came. Rooms are good size. Not too far of a walk from downtown.
