Close to the Convention Center and Rose Garden in Northeast Portland, this motel is a comfortable place to be with a good atmosphere. The rooms are nothing special but for the low to moderate rate it’s a good deal in this area, and may be an economic alternative to the other hotels around the Convention Center.
Rooms are clean, air conditioned include free wifi, breakfast, and parking. Hotel amenities include a sauna and laundry facilities. You are close enough to the Max light rail if you want to explore SW downtown or other parts of the Portland area.
The staff was very helpful and seem to be genuinely interested in making sure their guests are comfortable.
For what you get for the price of a room I think this is a good deal for someone not wanting to pay the higher prices for a room!

Tucked away off a side street near Portland's Convention Center and Rose Garden arena, this simple, unpretentious hotel is a good place to stay if you are looking for a clean, quiet, central spot and don't want to fork over a lot of cash. The rooms are accessed via an interior hallway, which I think makes the Shilo Inn feel much more secure than similar motel-type accommodation in the area. There aren't any safes in the rooms, but there is a lockbox for guests at the front desk.
The staff are friendly, the rooms are relatively spacious (although the outdated-by-30-years interior decor choices leave a lot to be desired), and a basic continental breakfast is included in the room rate. There's no pool or hot tub, but there is at least a sauna.

The Shiloh Inn is a no frills, exterior-entry hotel close to the Portland Convention Center. It's a lot cheaper than the DoubleTree that most conference people seem to stay at, and it's closer to the Convention Center too. It's close to a TriMet stop.
