This pleasant town is undergoing a bit of a renaissance and appears to be well on the way to becoming a tourist destination. The mix of old architecture and religious monuments gives the city a number of worthwhile tourist sights; however, the real charm is the buzz of the city and the people watching. An excellent place to enjoy coffee or gelato and watch the world go buy.Recommended for:

It's the big city in northern Albania. It was under going a serious redevelopment when I was there in 2008. I stayed at one of the old-time communist hotels! It was great for the experience -- the lights weren't turned on in the huge lobby and we were the only person staying on the 5 floors of the hotel. The castle is worth seeing and it's a great place to cross over into Montenegro.
