Won a stay here via twitter as a grand opening promotion. I am a local so I thought to myself, "this would be a nice staycation." It was that and more!
We spent 2 weekend nights in a Garden View Room. Upon checking in, the gentleman at the front desk saw that we had a child with us and immediately struck up a conversation with her and made her feel like she was a VIP. It was amazing. He also went ahead and told us he was going to place us in a room on the first floor so that she could have the entire garden area to play in. (And did she!) The room was perfect. Beautiful decor, eco friendly, super comfy. It was so nice to have our own little patio. Also, the access to the garden was great. Very private and so relaxing with the couches and water fountains. Lots of space to run around as previously mentioned. The pool was great as well. Heated so that it didn't matter that it was only in the low 70's. My only complaint, if you can even call it that, was the glass restroom in the room which was very cool except the electric shade that comes down to give you "privacy" isn't really all that private, especially with an overly curious 7 year old that can easily move the shade to the side. Also, it takes a while for the shade to come down, which means that if you really have to go, you may be in a little trouble if the shade isn't already lowered. Also, parking is a little steep at $30 a night, but considering you won't need to drive anywhere once you're there, it is very convenient. You are surrounded by all walkable places and attractions! Also worth noting, Free Wi-Fi!
Overall, such a modern, beautiful place. Gorgeous rooms, landscaping, facilities and such a great staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. And definitely recommend to all.Recommended for:Family Travelers

I find this hotel overpriced with far too many paid incidentals, including a $30 nightly self-parking fee. At that rate, you might as well spend the extra 5 bucks and spring for the $35 valet. This sleek, cosmopolitan hotel caters to the executive business traveler and upscale tourist. The main hotel is built in a U-shape and sits across Ocean Ave. from Santa Monica beach, so all these rooms have an ocean view. (The back L-shaped building sits on 2nd Street, across from the trendy Market at Santa Monica Place. Some of these rooms also have a more distant view of the beach, but if the scenery is paramount to you, request the main building.) The best feature of the hotel is its Gold LEED certification, which in addition to focusing on minimizing the hotel’s environmental impact, also accounts for the ample energy-saving natural light and, by default, the grand ocean views that each room enjoys.Recommended for:Business Travelers

When the Shore opened in 2011, it was Santa Monica’s first hotel built from the ground-up in about 10 years. This is significant because starting from scratch enabled the architects to create a LEED gold-certified property. And what’s cool about a lot of the features is that while they are eco-friendly, they also have residual effects that make for a better overall guest experience. For instance, the curve of the windows in the rooms on the side of the hotel were designed for energy efficiently, but because of their shape, people staying there also have better ocean views than they normally would.
All of the rooms have a balcony or small patio. One of the coolest features is the privacy screen in the shower. Push a button to slide it up, and you can shower while looking out at the ocean. Blue Plate Taco is about to open onsite (its sister restaurants are local favorites).

Clean brand new property across from the Pier. Super Eco and nicely decorated. No room service, No bar and No restaurant...
That's a problem...
It's nice and clean now that the hotel is brand new, it will have to be revisited in a few month to see how it stands time. Not a business hotel, more of a leisure property to explore Santa Monica.
