Amazing hotel on the beach in Santa Monica. Rooms are big, well decorated, and the beds are super comfortable. Service is great, and the pool area is clean and nice. The restaurants are good as well (but pricey). Location is also hard to beat - walk out the doors and you are on the beach, 5 mins walk to the boardwalk and 10 minutes walk to shopping at the 3rd Street Promenade.

This is a super indulgent hotel with lots of luxuries and an unbeatable location right on the beach. We usually do not spend much time in our hotel room, but here we enjoyed the jacuzzi tub, the pillow laden bed, the Nespresso coffee and reading on the balcony overlooking the beach. The rooms with balconies facing the beach were expensive but this place was a real treat.

Fantastic Hotel with big rooms, well designed, great food and believe it or not, fantastic beach towels! Thick and rich. Have been numerous times and always find it is as great as I remembered it. Additionally, my two kids loved it too!Recommended for:Family Travelers

I went here for a happy hour and absolutely love this Hotel. It's elegant and peaceful (how can it not be being next to the water and in the beach?!) They have a great happy hour menu at the bar with good wines to compliment the food. You can go formal in their dining room or sneak away downstairs to theirs more casual cafe lounge. Relaxing atmosphere and yummy food for all to enjoy. Can't wait to go back during the day to explore...

At first I was a bit hesitant to stay at a Cape-Cod/Martha's Vineyard-looking hotel in the middle of LA (Santa Monica to be exact). As soon as I checked in, I realized what luck to have found this gem. The service is in accordance with standards of excellence, from the bellmen to management. The rooms really beautifully adorned with a deep tub and rubber whale (vs. duckie) and amazing amenities. The pool right facing the beach -- hence the name. And so much history. And I can't forget to comment on the food. I highly recommend anything seafood and if you're taking a little break from the diet, among the best red velvet cake ever!Recommended for:History Buffs

Who says that the best brunch's aren't the most $$$$...well me?
The truth is, amazing location for a Sat/ Sun Brunch on the Terrace of Deck. Mimosas and Sun never hurt anyone, but the bill may. That's where the 4 stars come in. Other then that, I would just stay there the whole day to even watch the sunset, and order couple more bottles or rounds. But the sun would set on me.
It is simply breathtaking views, panoramic all the way, and there is nothing to stop the bliss except the bill....

If you want a fully Southern Californian experience, why not stay on the beach (and we mean *on* the beach) in Santa Monica? My cousin got married here, and the place couldn't have been more beautiful, the staff could not have been friendlier, the rooms could not have been more perfectly casual but upscale. They've got three different places to eat, all with crazy-beautiful views.

OK, it's too cold to go to New England this winter. Too much snow. Airports shut down for hours and days. Opt for Shutters on the Beach; so New England in its design you almost expect to spot a salty seafarer totting a netfull of freshly cauthg crabs through its luxurious lobby.
The place feels like a bucolic beach-house resort mere steps from the Pacific and ideally situated for anything from shopping on the 3rd street Promenade to strolling the shorlein down to funky Venice Beach.
Dining options include One Pico and the more casual Coast Beach Cafe and Bar. The Living Room is a nice spot for sunset libations or afternoon tea. On offer at ONE, the Spa at Shutters on the Beach, are an array of services – some organic – with six treatment rooms. The outdoor swimming pool features a deck with a Jacuzzi and ample seating areas, including private cabanas (a surcharge applies). There's also a health club and a variety of meeting spaces. High-speed Internet and valet parking (no self-parking) are available for a surcharge.
There are 186 guest rooms and 12 suites at Shutters on the Beach. Each is equipped with 42-inch LCD TVs, with movies on demand and video games, as well as CDs, DVDs, and iPods upon request. Among bedroom amenities are four-poster beds and custom-made linens. The bathrooms have hardwood floors, whirlpool tubs, and luxury products. WiFi is available for a surcharge.
