Siena

Perfect base in Tuscany for getting around but also having a home base that has shopping, culture and food! We were there right before the Palio meaning we got to see much of the pomp without the enormous crowds and inflated prices. Stay for a few days, relax, and enjoy this delightful hilltop town.

This is a good beach town if you don't have a car or prefer just to relax without moving around too much. Apartment rentals and paid beach areas can be had for slightly less than further south along the coast. The town is perfect because you can walk to the beach and to all the stores, there are shady parks ...

Loro Ciuffenna is a beautiful village situated on the river Arno which flows through the centre of the village. The views are spectacular contrasting between the snow capped hills which surround the area and the clean and fast flowing river which runs along a rocky and dramatic passage. The people are friendly and in February which is when we visited ...
