Wonderful square, unique in its architecture and irregular shape. It has not the same level but descends to the ancient palace of the power.

Siena's main attraction for me has been the central square Palio. The city is big and its buildings feel higher than most other cities in Tuscany. Even after several visits it does not feel as inviting and cozy as other cities of area. Great opportunities for shopping abound near the Palio.

This cathedral is right up there as one of the most gorgeous cathedrals in the world. So many details and so much artistry. Tip: you don't need to go to the Crypt or Baptistery(expensive for so little) so you can skip the all inclusive ticket. Just do the Duomo and if you have time, the panorama.

St. Antimo Abbey (Abbazia di Sant'Antimo) is a former Benedictine monastery, now inhabited by Canons Regular. The origins of the abbey date to a small oratory built here, one the location of a former Roman villa, in 352 at the death of Anthimus. Italy's largest baptistery (54.86m tall and 104m in circumference), the Battistero di San Giovanni is also slightly taller than the Leaning Tower across the square. As it shares the same unstable ground as the tower, the baptistery also has a slight lean of 0.6 degrees towards the cathedral.

Fattoria Il Palagio is a winery in the middle of Tuscany. Think vast scenery of Tuscan landscape with vineyards, yeah that's it. Our Contiki group came here as part of our tour and we were treated to a tour of the cellar, a brief discussion about the winery, and wine tasting complete with cheese pairing.
