    Piazza del Campo

    42 reviews

Wonderful square, unique in its architecture and irregular shape. It has not the same level but descends to the ancient palace of the power.

    Piazza del Duomo

    31 reviews

The Duomo is very impressive. It was built between 1136-1382. It has a mixture of sculpture, paintings, and Pisan-influenced Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The church also contains works from Donatello and Michelangelo. You must see the pulpit in this church by Nicola Pisano. The panels on the octagonal pulpit were carved between 1265-1268 and depict scenes from the life of Christ. The ...

    Historic Centre of Siena

    32 reviews

Siena brings to mind the reality of the idea of the Medieval City stuck in time. When I walked around the Siena Piazza del Campo (the most important town square in Siena) I felt transported back to a bygone era. I felt that throughout Italia, but particularly so in beautiful Siena.

    Cattedrale di Santa Maria

    15 reviews

One of the more beautiful churches I have visited. The gothic style is in some ways overly ornate but somehow all of the details come together in a way that makes this church both distinctive and pleasant. A must see in Siena.

    Battistero di San Giovanni

    2 reviews

Italy's largest baptistery (54.86m tall and 104m in circumference), the Battistero di San Giovanni is also slightly taller than the Leaning Tower across the square. As it shares the same unstable ground as the tower, the baptistery also has a slight lean of 0.6 degrees towards the cathedral.
