Amazing coffee, great interior architecture with loft space and roaster inside, and friendly services from knowledgeable baristas. What more could you ask for in a coffee house. You can grab a good coffee to go, meet up with some friends for the afternoon, or actually have space to sit down with your laptop/ notebook to get some work done. This coffee shop has everything I could ask for in a coffee house.
Diverse selection of crafted beans.
Knowledgeable and friendly baristas
Great ambiance and interior space.
Parking can be tough, but that's SF in general.Recommended for:

Great coffee in a very cool space. They roast their coffee on site, and have a number of different blends. Cappuccinos are beautifully made. Big windows and skylights flood the space with light, even on a foggy day. A hotspot for SF's tech scenesters.Recommended for:

A recent 7x7 Magazine independent taste test of a number of artisan coffees resulted in one clear winner: Sightglass Coffee. One of the cities newest roasters and distributors, it was formed when Jerad and Justin Morrison, a pair of coffee experts, left Four Barrel (another local favorite) to start their own location.
And it’s a beautiful space.
Large, full of seating space (a rarity in San Francisco) and clean restrooms (plural), this is a great place to grab a cup of coffee and chill. I ordered an Americano, as always, and took it black, like my heart, so I was able to take in all the flavors of their roasting and brewing process. It was delicious; all the flavor of Four Barrel without that weird acidic aftertaste I sometimes get. I have to say it was one of the best pulls of espressos I’ve had.
(As a student of the Italian language, I’m well aware that "espresso" can’t be pluralized with an “s” appended to it. Oh, well...)
They have a ton of pastries as well; large ones the size of your face. Can’t argue with that.
NOTE: There is no wireless Internet here.

I haven't been to the actual sight glass location (they used to brew it onsite at my old job) - but I can speak for the coffee itself...it's delicious. Strong, bold flavors that are delicately crafted with unique brewing methods - definitely worth a sip!Recommended for:

On a hipster scale of SF coffee shops, Sightglass is definitely in the highest quadrant, but don't let that stop you from paying this place a visit. I'll admit, there isn't much to see in the surrounding streets, but if you're in the area or you seek a cool place for a quick coffee meeting, this is the place.
First, the space is huge! It is open, airy, with tons of natural light. Sightglass doesn't look like your average corner coffee shop. Most importantly, they brew a superb cup of coffee and the espresso drinks are excellent.Recommended for:

Coffee in America has come a long way over the last five years. It's now to the point where most major cities have an overwhelming variety of amazing options. Thinking about all of the different places that I have tried, I would say this one is the most distinctive.
It stands out for the unique combination of coffee, atmosphere, design and staff.
They roast their own beans and do it so well that other high end coffee shops in other cities use and sell them. The coffee itself is prepared well, by the cup and in the espresso based drinks.
The design and atmosphere of the store are amazing! You walk into this huge, open space covered in wood. There is a floating coffee bar in the middle with noticeably friendly barista's. The atmosphere can work for both socializing or working and there's a fairly eclectic mix of people.

First time in this cafe and dig it so far! This is a warehouse converted space with a roaster on site. Two stories, plenty of seating. I love the huge communal tales upstairs, because they make for great collaborative work space. I don't see a whole lot of electrical outlet, so make sure you charge your computer before coming here. They only serve a limited selection of coffee beverages at a hefty price, but the coffee here is quite delicious.

Sightglass is probably the premier coffeehouse in San Francisco, and I must admit that the coffee is excellent. The atmosphere is hip (hipster?), the space is large and open and breathable, and it's great for a date. But three dollars for an ounce of espresso and four or five for a cappuccino? I just can't justify that, no matter how good the coffee is. You can get coffee that's honestly just as good at Four Barrel or Ritual for at least 30% less.Recommended for:

I've heard Square owns this place to test their products, but that may be a big fat rumor. Kind of ridiculous how "precious" the coffee is treated here. NOT the place to go for a quick cup. Decent space for meeting others and to work if needed.

This coffee shop is amazing. From its super stylish warehouse feeling to its decor and servers, everything is really cool.
I love the feeling of this kind of cafe, a feeling there the baristas here are artists that love coffee more than anything else. The "crafted fresh roasted house made coffee" feeling is all over the place here, awesome.
And of course, the place is really beautiful, so make sure to stay around and enjoy the environment.
