"In your white t-shirt, or a 3 piece suit. Don't matter what you wear, all dat matters is who you with. Some jiggy and some straight fly, all up in the club just to have a good time."- Jagged Edge, Where the Party at?
This is the truth with any club you go to, you will have a great time if you are with good people. If you are some stuck up Hollywood biotch that thinks they are the shieet and want free drinks or a guy looking for super models, you maybe disappointed. I have not been to Silk since it was closed back in 2007. I figured it's time to write a review. Sadly, on my way to the poker room last Saturday I did not see long lines of fine people. I remember back in the day when the club would get out.. it was serious fire hazard because of the flood of people.
Background. This is a beautiful club. When you first enter the entrance looks like something out of Las Vegas. The color lighting change like a mood light. There are flat screen TVs that show women shadow dancers (not anymore) and cool SILK logo. The bouncers are very professional and don't look like they are there to feel you up, but instead there to check for security. Once inside, you will see a glamorous stairway with seating area above and go-go dancers. I long bar with a huge chandelier and a projections screen. The stage looks like the set of Dance's with The Stars only less boring, and filled with people getting their grind on. This part of the dance floor is just the tip of the iceberg. There is another bar area and a huge area of couches and seating. There are two outdoor balconies with flames bursting out, similar to an Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom. Not my cup of tea. Its hard to enjoy the view from the balcony because of the heavy cloud of smoke equal to LA smog or Snoop Dogg's Green room. For the addicts out there, you don't have to leave to club to have your ciggy.
PROS: Dance floor area is where its at. Let loose and bust a groove!
-Stunning club presentation
-Music is a lot of Pop and dance music with a great beat, but sometimes the DJ will change the song so often you will never hear the chorus of song. Sometimes it seems like every 20 second the music will cut to a different song. So if you hear your favorite song before you can say "Girl That's my JAM!" The song changes..
-Very easy to get to, great parking. Minimal wait. You will not get denied for having a low gentleman to lady ratio.
CONS: Dance floor is limited and does get packed. The seating area is a lot larger than the dance area.
-Couch area is very dark and is usually filled with wallflowers and druggies that passed out.
-The other people. Not very classy, but what can you do?
-It can be difficult to get a drink, but not impossible. Be patient.
-Somewhat lacking eye candy.
This club is recommended. It's the Vegas/ Hollywood without the drive, traffic, and crazy/ expensive parking. If you are snob or Gold Digger and expect Jayz video quality. Go elsewhere! I guarantee you will have a good time if you bring a group of people. I've gone for a few birthdays and co-worker outings. Not bad for a personal date either, because it maybe be hard to stay with your group if you are fighting for dance space.
