I love bright colors which is why from the onset I found Puerta America to be especially appealing. You can see the maze of orange, blue, yellow, green and red from miles away along with hello, in various languages, scrawled to and fro on the sides and front of the skyscraper building. It's location is pretty central, too, near a metro that also doubles as a huge bus station.Recommended for:

Silken Puerta is absolutely perfect for anyone who is looking for modern luxury in a busy city environment. Each room is individually designed and is more luxurious than the last. The rooms start as deluxe rooms and for those truly seeking a treat, there's always the Presidential Suite. The staff are really friendly and there's no problem if you don't speak Spanish, there are plenty of English speakers on hand!
The hotel is located just outside of the city centre and is easily accessible by metro, as the Cartagena metro stop is just a two minute walk away.

This hotel is a dream for anyone who loves architecture and design. Starting from the outer shell designed by Jean Nouvel, through it's 13th floors, each designed a by a different architecture or designer: Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Ron Arad and others.
I've stayed on the tenth floor of a Japanese designer Arata Isozaki. It was a wonderful room: Japanese design simple and minimalist, wide bath made of wood, white robes and slippers.
Regarding cleanliness - I wish all the hotels iv'e been to were as clean.
Breakfast offered a big choice of both cooked and fresh foods, fresh juices and excellent coffee.
Although the hotel is not downtown, but it is a 2 minute walk from the nearest metro.
If you are going to Madrid - go and book a night there, it's the best one. really.

The visions of many starchitects come together at the Hotel Silken Puerto América: Jean Nouvel took on the façade, penthouse, and 12th floor; Norman Foster tackled the second floor; David Chipperfield the third; and so on. But it’s Zaha Hadid’s futuristic first floor that makes the biggest bathroom impression. Hers are monochromatic affairs, where every surface is part of the same skeleton, with the result that the bathtub organically melds into the sink and floor.

Great hotel with a wonderful restaurant and two nice bars for cocktails. I had a great room, love the concept of different floors different designers. Location could have been a bit better and a bit more central but that's not a deal breaker for me - I will return and look forward to staying on another floor.

The Silken Puerta America makes checking into the hotel an adventure because each of its floors had a different designer. I stayed on the 8th Floor in an all white room designed by Kathrin Findlay. Another member of our group opted to stay on the second floor, designed by Norman Foster. It's fun riding the elevator and getting off on the different floors just to see the hallway and elevator waiting area. The hotel is hip and trendy and has a fantastic restaurant. It wasn't as spacious or as comfy as the Hotel Villa Magna, but it has a fun vibe.Recommended for:
