    Souq Waqif

    3.53 mi from Silver Cafe
    23 reviews

Honestly, I was disappointed. Despite being made to look old, it's new - as in, built 5-10 years ago. Unlike Istanbul's Grand Bazaar or Bangkok's Chatuchak, which feel old for a reason, this one was more akin to what one might find at Disneyland. Beyond this, the shops all sell roughly the same stuff, with 60% or so complete tourist ...

    Villaggio Shopping Mall

    2.48 mi from Silver Cafe
    22 reviews

Villagio is a great mall. It has a movie theater, indoor kids amusement park as well as some great restaurants, stores, oh yeah and a gondola ride. The mini-river flows through a portion of the mall and adds a certain flair to the whole mall. It is a fun place to walk around on hot days in Doha.

    Museum of Islamic Art

    4.04 mi from Silver Cafe
    15 reviews

This museum is a must-see in Doha. For those who are not taken with the spacious well-organized galleries of Islamic art, the building itself is an architectural beauty, and there's a lovely cafe on the ground floor overlooking the bay (and the sunset if you're there in the late afternoon). Best of all, it's free.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

I'd give this five stars, but it's a hike from the center of Doha--although as a sort of bonus, you get to go to the very space-age-mars-colony-feeling Education City, which is a bit bizarre. The museum has an interesting permanent collection, but often that's not on view because the whole space is dedicated to some special show. I saw a ...

    The Mall

    3.63 mi from Silver Cafe

If you couldn't tell by the name, this was the first mall built in Doha. Hence them not actually naming it, so if people say The Mall, this is what they mean, unless they don't so be sure to clarify. As the oldest mall in Doha, it isn't very fancy. It has a small movie theater and the biggest draw ...

The highlight of my visit to Doha. Although I couldn't help feeling pity for the falcons, watching the locals shop for them is fascinating. Unlike anything I've seen before. The birds themselves are gorgeous and the overall experience is unforgettable. The stores are often closed. Check times in advance to avoid disappointment.

    Camel races

Ah, now for something I did enjoy about Doha. A touch of tradition and heritage. It used to be children racing the camels, these days don't be surprised if you see a robot rider (I'm not joking) remote controlled by its owner. See the website for race schedules.

This picturesque oyster-pearl monument set on the Corniche of Doha Bay is representative of Qatar’s historical economical driver— Qatar the former pearl capital of the world. Perfect views of the Doha skyline can be observed from the site.

Lovely outdoor shisha bar at the Ritz Carlton. Mostly filled with locals and has great atmosphere. Primarily for shishas but also has small bites. The mezzeh platter is good and there are also non-alcoholic drinks. A good private place to sit and talk. Guests have their own semi-private cabanas that circle an attractive star-shaped fountain. Seems to be a late ...
