The scenery is nothing short of amazing and the wildlife is unforgettable. You can take multi-day trekking trips in these incredible mountains where you'll most likely run into huge troops of endemic gelada monkeys, possibly see bearded vultures, and if you're really, really lucky Nubian ibex or Simien wolves. Even if you aren't a wildlife buff the hiking alone is well worth the visit. Tours can be arranged out of Addis or the closer town of Gonder. You can also try to arrange things yourself for cheaper at the park gates, but this is a bit more complicated. The biggest thing to take into consideration is the weather - it isn't always conducive to hiking. Summer months can be very wet but winter months are beautiful.
