Description

Singapore would not have been possible 100 years ago. A British colony until 1965, the country is now a microcosm of cultures, lifestyles and businesses. With all of that in the mix, you'd think the city-state might be a bit chaotic. However, Singapore has built a reputation as an overprotective parent. One of the wealthiest nations in the world, Singapore has one of the highest standards of living partly because it is known to be impeccably clean. But don't worry. You might not be able to spit out your gum on the sidewalk, but you can shop at haute couture boutiques, stay at chic boutiques or trendy hostels and visit highlighted attractions like the Empress Place Building, a former courthouse with 10 museums and galleries. The food here is as diverse as the ethnic makeup of the island, ranging from Tandooris in Little India to authentic Chinese in Chinatown to Italian or French. If you come to Singapore, be prepared to pay prices that match the glamour of the city.
