Such a sweet story of this, the only wooden bridge in the city! Apparently there were two sisters living on opposite sides of the canal and their father built the bridge so they could get to each other more easily. It's a place to come with someone you love and people often propose in the boats under the bridge.

It's a tiny bridge, but it's there and people go to see it. You'll see it if you go on the right canal cruise (although I forget which one you need).

Not really much to see other than to shoot some pictures. There is a plaque with some information about the bridge but nothing too shocking

This "Skinny Bridge" has a nice view over the Amstel River. IF you are on a canal cruise, make sure you kiss while going underneath the bridge.

To me this bridge says Amsterdam. Supposedly built by two sisters to visit each other.

Description

Alas, Skinny Bridge is skinny no more. Originally built in 1691 the Magere Brug, Dutch for skinny bridge, was an old wooden bascule type bridge over the Amstel River in Amsterdam. The bridge was so skinny it was difficult for two pedestrians to pass each other on it. The current bridge on the site, still called Skinny Bridge, was built in 1934 and is a particularly popular spot on the river. Skinny Bridge is magnificently lit at night and a frequent target of romantics and photographers. A night trip to Skinny Bridge is a must on a visit to Amsterdam.
