Sky Tower

Auckland, New Zealand

Sky Tower is the tallest structure in Southern Hemisphere. Views are amazing but revolving restaurant is overpriced and food was not great - you'll not miss a lot by skipping it. We did not do SkyWalk but it looked like a lot of fun.

This telecommunications and broadcasting tower is an iconic building in Auckland and arguably the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere! The observation deck offers great city views from its scary glass flooring. If you want to fly high, the venue offers 192 meters high 'SkyJump' from its observation deck, or you can also admire jumpers on their way down ...

Orewa Beach is a beautiful wide sand beach along the Hibiscus Highway. There's a small boat launch and water skiing area. Part of the beach is in front of a holiday park. This might technically be part of Auckland, but it's not a short drive to the city.

The New Zealand National Maritime Museum has an extensive collection of Polynesian sea vessels. Considering the Polynesian people traditionally and impressively traveled by small boats (like the one in my picture) large distances between the pacific islands this museum holds great significance to the most recent indigenous culture of New Zealand. Normally a maritime museum might not excite me but ...

With its central location in the heart of the city, Albert Park has a long history and distinctive character. The park also features a range of statuary ...

Visited the University of Auckland business school. Very nice campus on the side of a mountain. School was not in session so I can't really comment on that but with easy public transportation access things are convenient.

You'll need a ferry to get around the various things in the harbor and they all take off from here. The building is nice enough and there are plenty of services.

Viaduct Harbour is in the heart of Auckland City and it is a charming area to explore. You'll be spoilt with choice of restaurants and bars and the scenery of water and views of moored yachts. It is very nice to walk along the board walk especially during the sunset.

Focal point for commuter ferries, but a very pretty building nonetheless. Built in 1912, this baroque building is made of sandstone, brick, and granite. You will also find the Cin Cin on Quay restaurant here.
