This place is so unassuming from the outside. There's no signage from the street so you'll have to know where you're going. I feel bad for the people who live upstairs though...the bouncer is pretty good about keep people quiet outside though, and smokers away from the building.
When I got inside, I was so surprised by the decor. Love it! Little hideout from the outside world haha.
We got the volcano, which was super fun watching the guy give us a little show.
Although they control how many people are inside, you do have to squeeze your way through to the bar and even to get a table (gotta hawk over a group). It's a great little spot and I can't wait to come back with a few friends again!

A pirate-themed rum bar? Sure, why not. Smugglers cove has a full menu of, mostly, rum drinks. Upstairs is ham-fistedly decorated like a pirate ship. The downstairs is confusingly sea-themed... but the drinks are great and it's still somewhat undiscovered (at least, on a Friday night it's not impossible to find the bar).

The decor is so fun! Pirate/carribean themed, even the bartender gives you a very "Jamaican" vibe. The drinks are delicious and one of them, Puka Punch is on the 7x7 SF 100 things to eat before you die list. I tried a few drinks, and they were all delicious and strong. Great hang out spot for friends, and an SF favorite.

Dear Jade Bar,
How your happy hour is sorely missed. Luckily, we've been blessed with Smuggler's Cove, a fancy rum bar with a slew of delicious and exotic drinks. It is to rum what Rickhouse is to whiskies, though I do struggle with the price of many of their drinks. And, thus, I do not find myself frequenting this lovely place as often as I'd like.
Come on an off night to really experience the decor and avoid the lines.

This place is unmarked and looks like an office building, so don't blame your smart phone GPS for taking you to the wrong destination. This place looks like a set straight out of Pirates of The Carribbean, so naturally I was expecting way too sugary, overpriced drinks being served out of a coconut shell. I was pleasantly surprised to find real "mixologists" behind the bar mixing up hand crafted gimlets and cocktails that are out of this world. Great place to bring friends from out of town. An SF must-try!

You must visit this pirate-themed bar especially if you love Rum. They have a wide assortment of Rum from different parts of the world. Their booklet of cocktails also tells you the background story of each drink. Arrrrr maytee!

Whenever people from out of town come to visit I tell them to go here. There aren't many places that look like a pirate ship with punch bowl drinks that they light on fire. There is usually a line on the weekends but during the week it's usually easy to get in. Just be careful you don't fall into the fountain after too many rum punches. It's happened before.
