Lovely modern hotel well located for Christmas markets and local restaurants. hotel breakfast buffet outstanding. Rooms very comfortable and upscale. Nightclub in hotel that seemed very busy but did not experience.

Really cool interior as it feels very majestic once you step in. Great rooms with the best bed I've ever slept in. Fine I was tired from being up all night in this exciting city, but yeah that bed. I still dream about that bed.
Also, good location of the hotel.

While not pretty to look at from the outside, the recently remodelled Sofitel is quite a marvel. The interior of the former headquarters of the now defunct Hungarian National Airlines looks like something out of a Sci-fi film as the inside of the building is completely hollowed out with a replica airplane suspended from a ceiling that appears to be close to half a kilometre high. The building has a minimal elegance that exists on a colossal scale. The staff is incredibly attentive and efficient and although the hotel has over 350 rooms, you generally do not see the throngs of visitors that seem to pack the lobbies of many of the other large hotels in Budapest. The rooms have a comfortable almost corporate elegance and the rooms facing the Danube have a spectacular view of the Castle in Buda. The Bibliotek Bar offers an intimate meeting place that chic and a cut above the neighbouring hotel bars of the Intercontinental and the Marriott.

Those are not just Svarkowski crystal chandeliers dripping from the ceiling. In the high, rather spectacular vertiginous atrium, an actual WWI vintage plane is suspended overhead. Big, comfy beds and full sized baths in most rooms are all a plus, (as are L'occitane goodies in the bathrooms) but unreliable air conditioning clearly is not. The building’s exterior is nothing to write home about – a soulless 1970s monolith – but the Art Deco influenced décor is quite stylish. For a five star hotel of this size, you might expect more in the way of a fitness centre. (I counted only one treadmill). But it is handy to everything, commands some breathtaking views and service is overall brisk and efficient. They recently stopped charging what was a pretty outrageous fee for a wifi connection, though signal strength can vary throughout the building. As the sun sets, their Paris Budapest bar is an excellent place to enjoy cocktails in odd shaped glasses.

This is certainly a scenic part of town on the banks of the Danube. Rooms with a view are slightly higher but probably well worth the experience of looking at the Royal Castle on the Buda hill. The hotel faces a lovely green park and the Chain.
The hotel is beautiful the moment you step into the beautiful atrium/reception. The rooms are sumptuous with black and red pin stripe carpeting. In addition to the elegant furnishing, there is a Nesspresso coffee maker and Bose DVD player in the room in addition to the minibar. The bathroom has both a tub and a shower. Wireless internet is free of charge to guests.
A little more pampering is found in the spa, gym, sauna, and pool on the lower level of the hotel. Altogether, an impressive place to spend a vacation.
