They say Buenos Aires is the Paris of South America, and Sofitel definitely upholds that claim – and not just because you’ll be greeted with a “bonjour” when you enter the lobby (as I was by the handsome doorman). Not only is this hotel absolutely gorgeous, but it’s located in one of the most elegant neighborhoods of the capital, Retiro, which is filled with tree-lined plazas, art galleries, and luxury boutiques. I especially liked the “Bibliotèque” (or library), which serves as one of several salons, and the hotel’s French restaurant, “Le Sud,” which offers an excellent array of Gallic food. The place definitely caters to businesspeople, however (as made especially evident by the business room), so I didn’t find anyone my age there. But I highly recommend it - if only for how stunning it is.Recommended for:

Sofitel is extremely dapper and classy. The entrance boasts a high ceiling and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There's a restaurant as well as a café. There are all kinds of suites and rooms, and each will make you feel pampered and at home. Arroyo street, where the hotel is, has many antique shops and art galleries, which almost seem like an extension of the hotel. The bedrooms are gorgeous and despite the luxury, you always feel at home.Recommended for:

This hotel was beautiful. The entrance hall was very elegant, with a glass roof and a huge clock on the wall with a very particular design. The staff were incredibly attentive and I didn’t feel like I was in a hotel where appearance meant everything. I felt relaxed wandering around in my trainers, even though the decor was so stylish and luxurious. The gym was fantastic. It was small, but the guy who worked in the gym gave individual training classes upon request and there was a power plate to really help burn off the calories. The best thing about the suite was the entrance. It was so spacious that it felt like I’d stepped into a small apartment and not a hotel room. The bathroom was also gigantic - this was a massive plus because I really love to take my time in the shower. It was a great space for pampering opportunities.Recommended for:

The Sofitel is the crème de la crème of Buenos Aires luxury hotels. It's a bit like being in a restored palace, with beautiful antiques and paintings in every corner. Glamorous, elegant, but at the same time cozy, everything from the lobby to the rooms to the cafe to the high-end jewelry boutique is luxurious. The cafe serves beautiful little pastries and coffee, and is richly decorated like an old Parisian cafe, but it is primarily filled with Mac users! The restaurant seems small for the large number of rooms, but perhaps most guests eat out. The cuisine is French and Argentine, and the menu is in French and English, a bit strange for Argentina! The gym and pool are only open till 6pm, which is disappointing. The staff speak perfect English and accommodate all your needs. Sophisticated and grand, this is the nicest luxury hotel in all of Argentina.Recommended for:

This chain of luxury hotels doesn’t disappoint in Buenos Aires. The hotel is housed in a breath-taking, historic building in the Plaza San Martin/Retiro area. This place offers classic luxury with exquisite attention to detail in every aspect.
The location is perfect and you have a selection of high-end restaurants nearby. Check out Filo round the corner for the best pizza in Buenos Aires.
This place has got lots of facilities including gym, spa and pool. The pool is indoors so you can enjoy it all year round but it’s a little small and it’s only open til 6pm daily.
Sofitel’s restaurant and cafe are gorgeous too. The restaurant serves mainly French and Argentine food and has an excellent wine menu.
Rooms are luxurious with traditional style décor. Huge beds and spacious rooms and bathrooms.Recommended for:
