The Sofitel name is known the world over as a trusted brand in the luxury market the Queenstown version definitely lives up to that standard. Located in the heart of town there is a distinct Parisian feel to the property and a French elegance that flows into every corner of the guest experience. The decor takes hints of classic French architecture while infusing classic Kiwi touches of colour and feel. The rooms themselves are stunning as you'd expect, many of them complete with balconies that give you a view of the mountains you'll struggle to best. The service is perhaps even better than the rooms - the staff prides itself in knowing the name of every guest and the level of service is untouched locally. The onsite spa sets a new standard for pampering and could be the ideal indulgence to cap off an already luxurious stay in Queenstown.Recommended for:

Situated right in the heart of Queenstown, stepping into the Sofitel is like immersing yourself in a little slice of quiet and sophisticated Parisian heaven. Immediately you’re surrounded by delicate antique décor, shimmering chandeliers, a baby grand piano, a spiralling staircase and staff quietly greeting you in French. The accommodation itself is elegance epitomised with all tasteful decorations you'd expect such as luxurious linens, marble clad bathrooms and an in-room espresso machine. Like all good Parisian hotels the view from your balcony will feature the pretty downtown area, but in contrast you’ll also be treated to views the lake and surrounding mountains. While you’re here, be sure to make use of the LeSpa facilities – you can choose from traditional New Zealand Maori rituals or more traditional European beauty treatments – either way, you won’t be disappointed.Recommended for:

If only I could afford my taste. The Sofitel is heavenly. I spent one night there at the end of a press trip, but I loved it. The accommodations were so spectacular that I came back for a hot stone massage after I moved to a less expensive lodging. The Spa is first rate too.
