This was our first stay at the Sonnenalp, but it will not be our last. We loved everything about the property: location, staff, fitness center, free yoga/pilates class and the streamside pool. A great get away!

  • Sonnenalp Resort of Vail

Sonnenalp is one Vail property that you must see, even if you choose not to stay, go to one of its fine restaurants, relish a treatment at their spa, or take a hit at their oxygen bar!
What is the draw at this member of Small Leading Hotels of the World? Simply, you will think that you have just experienced a travel warp and have landed in southern Germany. It will put you into an Alpine ski mindset. You walk into the lobby where a vintage horse sleigh is parked and the front desk staff is in traditional Tyrolean costumes. Turn toward the white stucco fireplace and seating with yellow and white striped cushions. Lovely frauen are delivering water to spa clients. You can take oxygen at the spa bar, which overlooks the winding, indoor-outdoor pool. That is just $2 a minute and if you are dragging because of the high-altitude, it could be the best money you spend.

independently owned by this Austrian family . They have been around since Vail has been opened , for 30-40 years. The service is unparalleled. The family is still there running it, it’s beautiful in European style. The rooms are relatively big for a Vail hotel. The location can’t be beat. Its def not the least expensive hotel in Vail.
