The Mount Nelson Hotel was once the place to stay in Cape Town. The aging hotel has seen better days, but it still has a full-on view of Table Mountain.

Spectacular waterfront hotel in the Cape Town harbor. Elegant, opulent and, frankly, almost over the top, is how I'd describe this place. True luxury residences in an coastal urban setting. Unparalleled on the African continent and on par with the best of the best worldwide. Loved staying here, and really enjoyed the waterfront surrounds as well.

It is safe to say that there is no other place on earth like The Palace of the Lost City. I expected the somewhat cheesy luxury that is so often associated with Las Vegas, but this is no Vegas! The Palace of the Lost City offers totally over-the-top elegance and service to match. In Las Vegas, everything seems designed to ...

After a grueling 22 hours on an airplane, it was so nice to check in a super friendly and comfortable hotel in the heart of Cape Town. This hotel is just about perfect in every way. Very chic. Very very chic. But cozy at the same time. The Ellerman is one of those places that will stick for while. It does not come cheap, but you get a lot in return. All rooms are apparently equipped with flat-screen satellite TV for lazy Sunday mornings, underfloor heating for chilly winter das, air conditioning, Internet and a complimentary ...

This was one of my favorites in the Sabi Sabi area. The care and skill in building a safari lodge that was totally one with nature is incredible. From outstanding service, expertly prepared meals, and the best game viewing around, this is one safari lodge that is worth the money.

Skukuza Restcamp - Kruger National Park

    Hotel Class:

The "main" camp for Kruger, located in the southern section of the park, Skukuza makes a wonderful option for where to base yourself in between game drives. It has some decent restaurants and even game viewing from inside the camp fence. Centrally located, it's also often possible to get a reservation here in a safari tent or campsite when others ...

Lower Sabie is my favorite restcamp in the Kruger. Positioned next to the Sabie River, Lower Sabie has some amazing views. The accommodation ranges from camping spots, one-bed huts, tented safari camp and luxury huts. The one-bed huts were where I stayed on my first visit here as a solo traveler. They are thatched rondavels with a single bed, plenty ...

We had never been to Kruger National Park before and had no idea what a "rest camp" was. Expecting the worst, we found the chalets to be an absolute delight. They are very roomy brick cabins with en suite bath and kitchen facilities and a brai. The property is entirely fenced, so that the wildlife that roams the surrounding area ...
