Palma it reminds me a little of Barcelona but on a smaller scale. It's got great bars & restaurants and is the perfect escape for a city break. During the Sumer I've witnessed some spectacular thunderstorms there. A city that I never tire of returning too. Did I mention the ensaimada, quite the delicious dessert, just don't ask how it's ...

If I could give 3.5 stars I would. Granada for me was all about the Alhambra. Other than that, we really did have difficulty finding things to do. After two days we were ready to move on. It was also the place we had our worst meal in Andalusia. Worth it to see the Alhambra but not a place I ...

What’s the best tsoureki in Greece, money can buy? In my opinion, it’s Terkenlis, hands down. I know, I know. You, your yia-yia make a mean Easter bread (τσουρέκι or tsoureki); but to be fair, I did say ‘money can buy,’ and not all of us have a family recipe or a Greek yia-yia at our disposal. Terkenlis makes 10 ...

Turin is a great city with a really lovely river running through it and lots of atmospheric covered sidewalks. The food and wine from the Piedmont region, which it's in, are excellent.

Izmir is a beautiful city and Turkey, in general, is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever visited! A great restaurant in Izmir that specializes in roasted lamb is Le Prestige. Had wonderful lamb on a skewer for lunch. Reasonably priced, too.

Santander was the first town I visited in Spain, mainly because of a RyanAir flight from London that cost around $30. There are excellent beaches here and the people are very friendly, though they don't speak English. Near the port there is excellent seafood and the locals like to hang out in the courtyards drinking wine and talking.

The fascinating home of St. Francis (and St. Clare) is a beautiful hill town with lovely views of the countryside and a ton of churches with interesting histories. But it's also just a cute town, with a maze of alleyways lined with shops and restaurants and bars. It's definitely a tourist trap, but rightly so.

Goreme, in Cappadocia, is one of those magical places. The setting is unique with its famous fairy chimneys and proximity to so many sites where Western Civilisation began. A balloon trip is a never to be forgotten experience, as is a visit to underground cities where early christians hid from the Romans for months at a time. The people are ...

Orvieto is a wonderful, historic, city with much interesting architecture. During the Medieval times, specifically during the war between the Papacy and the Holy Roman Emperor, Orvieto was an important Papal city.

For those seeking excellent weather and a beachy relaxation, with zero doubt that its crystal clear sunny sky with a little breeze all summer, Bodrum is a good destination. Not to forget a very crowded nightlife that starts at 1:00 am! Didn't too much appreciate the mean attitude and avarice of the Turkish people, their lack of hospitality and honesty.

“Flexible comprehensive tour with pickup from Izmir cruise port” I called No Frills Ephesus Tours from our ship to ask if they could pick us up with a day's notice from the cruise port at Izmir, and they made it happen, combining us with another couple from Selçuk. We got a ride to and from Izmir, full day tour with ...

Beautiful, romantic & fun! I highly recommend an Ibiza vacay! Walking into Ibiza old town is a bit of a hike, but it's so much fun. And so many lovely views.

I was a little disappointed with Cordoba after visiting many other towns in Spain. I felt Cordoba really lack a vibrancy that almost every other town in Spain has. I would spend maybe one day here to check out the Cathedral then move on. Maybe it has turned into such a tourist town that it has lost it's "life", but ...

I'm not sure what I was expecting when it came to the ruins of Pompeii, but I don't think that it's what it actually turned out to be, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

While I prefer Palermo slightly a bit more than Catania, Catania is a very nice city and is very easy to get around. There are lots of great restaurants, the city is easy to get to by air, and there is a lot to see and do. I like the openness of the city with its many large piazzas, and ...
