This is the Taller de Tapas that's located down the old silversmith's street in the Born district. The Building containing this modern, comfortable and office worker-friendly Tapas place dates from the 16th Century and was once a Nun's Convent. Commerc 24, by Carles Abellan - book in advance and ask for table in front of the chefs, you can watch them bending over their tweezers. Dinner here, the tasting menu recommended. Food is exciting, wait staff can be a tad too cool

Ferran Adria’s first project after closing el Bulli. I’ve been very lucky to have eaten here 3 times (in May 2011, Jan 2012 and September 2012). Yes, the menu has changed and still changes. The focus is on exquisite produce and the best suppliers. There is a element of molecular genius applied, you’re always offered the liquid olives first. In ...

    Patagonia Beef & Wine

Gran Via Corts Catalanes, 660, Barcelona, Spain

Decadently delicious beef flown in from Argentina - the steaks here are tender and full of flavor. I got the bife de chorizo, and it came out tender and grilled perfectly. Also a win was the empanada platter appetizer, which featured four different traditional flavors. Service is very international friendly. Between the high quality food and the great service, this ...

Lunch at Dostrece is a feast of freshly cooked cafe-style plates with local produce, vegetarian options, fruity wine and yummy cakes (try the Pastel de Zanahoria - Carrot Cake - if it is on offer on that particular day). El Rovell del Born

    Carrer de l'Argenteria 6, 08003 Barcelona, Spain
    5
    4 reviews

Yes, it's upscale. And yes, there are probably more English and German speakers inside than Spanish speakers. But it's still worth visiting this tapas joint (serving tapas in the tradition of the Basque region, with small bites held onto bread with toothpicks) for the delicious, fresh food and friendly servers.

Known to many as a Madrid institution, La Mallorquina has been around since 1894, and since then has been providing some of the yummiest pastries to be found in the city center. But this pastry shop also is a great place to grab a cup of coffee, especially in the upstairs salon. If you’re lucky and get a window seat, ...

We stumbled on this place because it was right near our hotel. The restaurant serves typical Spanish tapas in a hip, modern, nightclub-like atmosphere. The crowd is decidedly good-looking. We didn't know it at the time but Lateral is a chain of restaurants in Madrid. The stuffed pimientos were delicious!

One of San Sebastian's Michelin darlings, Akelare is perched high above the ocean just past Mt. Igueldo giving a great view to go along with the Basque fine dining cuisine. While the technique is very modernist yielding to beautiful and playful presentations, the flavors are an embodiment of Basque cooking from land and sea.
