As zoos go, this is a good one. Most of the exhibits were missing when I went there, but the ones that were present were a delight to look at.

I use to go to the zoo a lot as a kid but have not been in years! Until yesterday when I had to go for school. I loved all the new exhibits but there are still A lot that are not open yet. While the zoo is free general admission, there are a lot of paid exhibits. Oh and be prepared to spend a good half a day or more there.

Lots of things to see, well kept, overall a quality zoo when compared to other zoos across the country. The underwater tunnel where the sea lions are is definitely worth checking out!

I have children and we really like this zoo. The walks are sort and the exhibits are informative.
Tip -- The parking costs. If you want to be cheap, you can park in the surrounding park and walk to the zoo. You can leave much faster at the end of the day if you turn left (west) when leaving the zoo parking lot.

I quit going to the zoo until about two years later when I went back after renovations. AMAZING! It was as if I had been there for the first time. Lots to see & do, amazing animals and all around terrific place for a family visit. I HIGHLY recommend it!

If you love animals like me you will love the zoo. There are a huge range of animals and quite a few that i had not seen before. I loved that the place was well cared for and the animals were looking loved and in good health.

I am spoiled by DC's free museums and zoo, and I know I am. So it was nice to see another city with free attractions! This zoo was free, and, dare I say it, better than the one here in DC. I'm not sure if it was bigger or not. It was a great experience. We saw many animals that seemed very content - especially the young orangutan, who was playing a whole lot. There were some exceptions but I thought in general the animals seemed happier than at other zoos I've been to. This zoo is well worth a visit!

First, it's the only free zoo I've ever come cross. It is very large and laid out very nicely. My favorite to visit is "Big Cat Country".

Description

It was the $3,500 flight cage purchased from the 1904 World’s Fair that started it all. The walk-through birdcage was originally built by the Smithsonian Institute for the event but the people of St. Louis opted to keep it. From that, the zoological gardens expanded to what it is today: 90 acres, over 19,000 animals, 655 different species, and free of charge. Exhibits include Penguin and Puffin ... read more
