Heard a concert here in 1999. Acoustics were fabulous. Dates from Roman period. Marvelous C18 interior designed by James Gibbs.

This church next to Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery has a lot to offer visitors during the summer when it is the venue for free concerts. Also, visit the Crypt where you can find a cafe and the Brass Rubbing Centre.

The Crypt Cafe is one of the secret finds of London. Great food and the profits help the homeless of London. Check the web site for brilliant concerts in the church also

If you like classical music, this is a great place to visit. They have free lunch time concerts, and you can grab a bite at the Cafe in the Crypt after.

This is a lovely church to visit, and they offer some great concerts. The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-fields orchestra is outstanding! If you visit the crypt in the basement, they offer brass rubbings - its fun to do, and could make a very nice souvenir with the right mat and frame. Fun for kids, too.

This charming old church on Trafalgar Square houses a well-regarded restaurant (which is a fund raiser for community outreach programs) and hosts an impressive music series. Check the schedule for its vast variety of concerts and recitals. We walked in during a free lunch time concert, when we needed a break from the crowds at the nearby British Museum.

Description

One of London's many noteworthy churches, you'll no doubt stumble across St Martin-in-the-Fields when you visit the neighboring National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. Along with having Buckingham Palace in its parish, this church holds many events, such as the free lunchtime concerts on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Although St Martin-in-the-Fields is located right on the busy Trafalgar Square , it is one of the best places in the city to go for a little peace and quiet. Designed in 1726 by James Gibbs, the church is also home to some of the most beautiful woodwork and Italian plasterwork in all of London.
