The St Moritz walks a fine line - it's a boutique hotel with all the personal touches you'd expect from an artisan accommodation. While at the same time they manage to house hundreds of guests a night in mass-produced luxury. It's a tough equation to balance, but here at St Moritz they pull it off and do it in style. Conveniently located a 5min walk from the centre of town up a stout hill it's close enough to walk while getting the heart pumping up the hill and high enough up to get the heart pumping from the stunning view that altitude produces. The lobby area is a stunning mix of raw timbre and native stone fused into a mountain cocktail befitting their alpine name. The rooms are well appointed and have all the amenities you'd expect all packaged in a stylish hotel that ranks amongst the heady heights of one of Queenstown's best.Recommended for:

While the entrance to St Moritz down a concrete-filled driveway is decidedly unappealing the beyond that entrance is quite simply beautiful with it’s timber and schist interior. The hotel is high enough above town to be afforded heavenly views of old steamships drifting by as you’re dining over a fine, elegant meal; yet not so high that the five minute walk to town is a particularly arduous one. The comfortable rooms were as tastefully decorated as you would expect, yet at the same time they had great character with rich red throws, grape green velvet chairs and black & white nouveau patterned shower tiles – too much safe chocolate brown simply bores me to tears. The outdoor timber hot pool was an unexpected pleasure. Two thumbs up from me!
