St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco

This is one of my favorite hotels in the city. The lobby is gorgeous, the restaurant and room service are both top notch, and the location is hard to beat, sitting next door to Yerba Buena Gardens, the MOMA, and Market Street.

    Alexander Book Company

0.18 mi from St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco
    4.5
    2 reviews

One shouldn't assume Alexander Book Company lacks the charm of a neighborhood bookstore just because it's located downtown. The brick interior and hip staff give it as much flavor as any other place in SF "proper." It's cozy and quiet, like a vacation from the outside. And while I preferred the (now deceased) Stacey's for their selection and energy, I ...

The MoMA is one of my favorite modern art museums anywhere. See Wharhol to Jasper Johns, Matisse to Magritte. The layout is beautiful and the exhibitions are usually amazing.

Ding! Ding! Where the Cable Cars end and the F-line traverses, you have Market Street, San Francisco's major avenue that stretches from the Ferry Building all the way past the Castro into the hills. The MUNI Metro makes traveling from one end to the other a breeze. And the view from one end to the other is breathtaking and profound.

Great wine bar to lounge at. We usually end up with our friends who host happy hours here every other month. Nick's Happy Hours are very popular here. The have special flights of wine and the food here is pretty good also.

Although Lotta's Fountain may be now inactive and filled with bits of trash, its history is overflowing. It's not very large, unlike artist Douglas Tilden's other Market Street statues, but it's probably the coolest looking. It has a great Alice in Wonderland feel, with lion heads waiting to spew water into their bowls. It feels like a little bit of ...

This is my first time at a speakeasy. This is awesome! It has a historical feel to it and the employees look the part. Very cool. They have really interesting drinks with interesting names too. Definitely coming back again! The Yellow Kid is a lemon drink...creeps up on you :)

I have a complicated relationship with the Sierra Club. First of all, I'm an employee of one of their targeted industries, I don't fully agree with some of their positions regarding the Albany Waterfront, and have found that their local political endorsement process lacks transparency and fairness. And I have the flyers and articles to prove it. On the other ...

Another lounge-bar in the downtown area. It's located next to John Colins so you get a choice between a tropical theme and whatever Alibi is supposed to have. The space is large and nice, and the service wasn't unfriendly.

Thirsty Bear Brewing Company is one of several popular local brewpubs that craft their own beer in San Francisco. The entirety of their beer selection here is organic and, from what I recall, I particularly liked the seasonal IPA they offered during the time I visited. My natural inclination was to compare the drafts here to 21st Amendment, the other ...

My God, what a breathtaking view. Imagine taking the Death Star and moving it ever so gently over downtown San Francisco (without regard to gravitational laws), and think about the view you'd get from Palpatine's royal throne. This is what you get at The View, the top-floor bar at the San Francisco Marriott. Drinks are overpriced (as expected—the "well drink ...

Otis Lounge is romantic and cool when not too many people are there. The bartenders are rad, have good musical tastes (it was 90s night last I went, apparently) and the prices aren't too bad.

I've only been skating once in my life and, to my credit, I've also only fallen once. The rink here is always open, so if you're looking for a place to skate, this is definitely the spot.
