St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco

This is one of my favorite hotels in the city. The lobby is gorgeous, the restaurant and room service are both top notch, and the location is hard to beat, sitting next door to Yerba Buena Gardens, the MOMA, and Market Street.

    Comstock Saloon

Every time I walk into the Comstock Saloon, the Star Wars Cantina song starts playing in my head. Not because this is a watering hole for surly aliens (quite the opposite, actually), but because... well, really, I have no idea why. The decor of the Comstock is something in between old-west saloon and trendy-chic lounge -- though I suppose the ...

Forgive me if I don't rate this place anything more than 4 stars. I've forgotten about this place until my boyfriend took me here for one of our dates. My oh my, I don't know how we managed to get ourselves here after a couple of drinks. I'll spare the details of our date, but let me give the rundown. ...

Very beautiful bar with a great view of San Francisco. Recently renovated, it offers one of the greatest vantage points to view the city. It's especially impressive at night, when the lights of downtown seem to pop up at you. Drinks are well-made and, obviously, pricey. Come expecting to spend some cash and you'll have a good time.

From the look of it, 83 Proof is just another FiDi bar watering hole for the after work crowd. But upon closer inspection, it isn't just that, it offers a little more, and can be a later night drop in joint, especially if you like creative drinks and personal service. They have a huge collection of spirits on the wall ...

San Francisco is what it is because of San Francisco Bay. What better way to see it than to get on the water in one of the many Golden Gate Ferries that criss-cross the steely blue water. One of my favorites is the Sausalito Ferry. You get on at the foot of Market Street, and chug past Angel Island. You ...

Quite an amazing bar and restaurant with a seemingly endless bottle list. Their draft system is one of only 5 in the world and can mix CO2 or Nitrogen carbonation on the fly, so each beer can be served at the perfect temperature and carbonation. Great prices as well for the list of rare and strange beers on tap. Food ...

Justin Herman Plaza lies in between the Ferry Building (and the Embarcadero) and the start of Market Street. It was named after Justin Herman, who was once the head of San Francisco's the Redevelopment Agency in the 1960s. During my occasional visits over the years, I have gone ice skating in the winter, hung out at the nearby Hyatt and ...

By far the best dive bar in the Union Square area. They have great drink specials, good prices and fresh ingredients. The upstairs area is depressingly dark, while downstairs is too small, but everything else about Tunnel Top is solid.

One of my favorite things about the holidays in San Francisco is the ice rink on Union Square. There's something really magical about skating outside in the middle of the most iconic attractions in SF. A must do while spending the holidays in the city.

Neiman Marcus will always be excessively expensive in my eyes. While I can appreciate the Italian designer suits, some of the pricey casual items (like $300 polo shirts) are a punch line for society. One particular odd moment occurred when I was walking through to the restroom. One of their friendly staff members (and they are all friendly—props for that) ...
