This is an amazing resort on the northern part of the island. I stayed during Christmas time on my last visit, and I really enjoyed the trees that were decorated by local elementary schools.

I came here just to see the sunset. It was absolutely amazing. We stayed at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas and since they don't have their own beach access, we're allowed to use the St. Regis.

Even if it was just to check out the beach, I'm thankful we did. I don't think I've seen a better sunset in my entire life and the sunsets over lake Geneva in Switzerland are pretty damn amazing.. Watching this one though is almost surreal. The way the trees frame the water and the refection is almost an identical mirror, I can't imagine anything more perfect.

I only wish that I could have recorded it better with my iphone! We stood there for probably 25 minutes, but you wouldn't be able to tell because the recording isn't stead and I can't watch more than a few minutes of it without getting dizzy. But I guess it goes to show that some things are made to be enjoyed only in that moment.

The St Regis Resort offers the best place on the north shore, if not the earth, to watch the sun set. The place to watch is called The Living Room so don't come in beach wear. Although one of the most beautiful lobbies in Hawaii was destroyed during the last "renovation", the dining room and lanai were not touched. Although a bit pricy, the St Regis offers a fantastic Sunday brunch. I suggest you eat out on the lanai even if you have to wait. The view are worth the wait. (Note) The dove have little fear of people. When going up for seconds, I suggest one person staying at the table to shew away the birds.

The tippy-top of luxury on Kauai, this is the hotel that starred in the movie version of "The Descendants." While the overly manicured golf course setting can seem sterile, inside the St Regis has airy hallways, tropical trees and flora, and of course killer ocean views that make it feel closer to nature. Even if you don't stay here, a spa appointment here is a romantic worthy splurge.

I came here on my honeymoon when it was the Princeville Hotel in 2008. Keeping aside my honeymoon high bias and I can say, objectively, this was my best hotel experience ever!

    Lobby/Hotel
The hotel is immaculate - from every obsessively clean piece of marble flooring, wall or shelf to every minimalist yet bold tropical plant/flower display. Sure it is a 5 star hotel, but still!

    Room
I really like the decor of the hotel rooms. We had a bathroom with an invisible and visible wall! Basically, you could make it see through and then, opaque again. We had a great view of the ocean and green roof for a balcony. The rooms were spacious, obsessively clean and had a great Hawaiian CD in the player.

    Food
5 stars. Breakfast buffet was delicious - fresh smoked salmon, fresh tropical fruits, stuffed omelettes, puffy poached eggs and the crunchiest hash browns. My husband also surprised me with a private dinner in one of their restaurants - they tucked us away on the balcony so we could have our privacy. Food was delicious - think we had lobster tail and filet mignon.

    Service
Great service - attention to detail and of course the hawaiian signature lei upon arrival is always a must. Staff was professional and quick to help.

Best hotel stay ever. I stayed here for my honeymoon before the St Regis transformation and it was awesome then so now I suspect its 200% more awesome. The location is amazing and since it was our honeymoon they upgraded us to a great suite on the top floor. They have magic glass in the bathrooms so you can get a great view from the bathtub and then flip a switch to obscure the glass for privacy. If you get room service they setup a little table right next to the window so you can look at the great view. They have a great pool and a nice little beach too. The location was awesome, the service was awesome, best hotel stay ever.

Solid hotel if you're looking to just relax on the beach and sip on a Mai Tai every day. We were looking for just that and decided to stay for 9 nights! The hotel is is pretty secluded though, so keep that in mind before booking for an extended stay. For instance, it is a $120 cab ride from LIH airport and anywhere you go will require a cab or rental car. If you're staying for several nights, I'd recommend doing some food shopping at the local Princeville Shopping Center (hotel food can get a bit mundane). Be sure to bring your own snorkel gear because the reef right in front of the hotel is addicting. I saw 4-6 sea turtles every time I swam out. The hotel is terrific, but I give it 4 stars since they were dealing with some union issues during our stay and the service really wasn't up to St. Regis standards. Hotel management was very attentive though and made amends wherever possible. Great place.

Only reviewing the spa - -

Had a wonderful spa treatment here - was some kind of seaweed treatment for an hour and a half. The showers here are top 3 of any place I've been too. Great little spa boutique carries the Maile products - big bonus!

got a package deal w/ airfare and car rental, and this was only slgihtly more expensive than the grand hyatt on the south side of the island. the grounds are beautiful. we lucked out and the room we had reserved wasn't ready when we checked in, so they asked if we wanted to upgrade to ocean view suite. sweet, hook us up! from the bathroom, you could see through a frosted window out through the living room to the ocean and adjacent mountains. pretty great. the breakfast brunch was included every day and was quite tasty. the omlettes were made to order. it's very expensive and i wouldn't have paid for it otherwise.rooms are clean, service was good when i saw a gecko running around the room. the hallways are not enclosed so as to be 'one with nature', but as a result there are a few ants and lizards running around.... the beach is quiet and reserved for the st. regis guests and adjacent residence/condo guests. not the craziness of waikiki.

the only thing to consider is that this is the far north part of the island so there is slightly more intermittent rain. and it is a bit farther away from most of the restaurants and shops, so it takes almost an hour to drive to the south side of the islands. there is good hiking nearby though and a big grocery store and Bar-Acuda restaurant is nearby.

the bar/deck at the St. Regis is rated one of the top 10 according to Esquire or something like that. definitely a breath-taking view. and they have live music most nights at the bar. all in all, this is a nice place for special occasions

Went into the stay thinking the St. Regis would be a bit more high-end than it ended up being. I believe they've recently converted the hotel from a Westin and while the staff is great, I left feeling they were trying to be a St. Regis but still a Westin. And the food and drink is horribly over-priced.
