The university campus offers a wonderful place to walk or bike. There are museums, galleries, architecture to enjoy.

Home to Stanford University, a stunning campus with great sports facilities; very clean, full of greenery and surrounded by some lovely trails. There is a lovely shopping mall in the area as well. Overall, a wealthy area with a lot of student life and businesses to support that lifestyle.

Some background, Stanford is a private research university in Stanford, CA (NW Silicon Valley near Palo Alto). Leland Stanford, former governor of and U.S. senator from California and leading railroad tycoon, and his wife, Jane Lathrop Stanford, founded the university in 1885 in memory of their son, Leland Stanford, Jr., who died of typhoid two months before his 16th birthday in 1884; it opened on October 1, 1891. The university was established as a coeducational and nondenominational institution. Tuition was free until the 1930s but then struggled financially after Leland Stanford's 1893 death and after much of the campus was damaged by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Following World War II, Provost Frederick Terman supported faculty and graduates' entrepreneurialism to build self-sufficient local industry in what would become known as Silicon Valley. By 1970, Stanford was home to a linear accelerator, and was one of the original four ARPANET nodes (precursor to the Internet). Pretty cool!

Honestly, the only thing that's really in this "city" is the Stanford University campus. For the most part, the university has it's own zip code because the area it takes up is so widespread. On the bright side, there are beautiful features in the area to be seen: rolling hills, a waking trail, a seasonal lake, the Stanford campus itself, egc

Home of the cardinals, located right there between palo alto, menlo park, and atherton. The city that contains Stanford U and Stanford Shopping Center. I like the place even if the traffic congestion makes it a touch difficult to get from the university to the mall and to downtown a hassle. But I think i found out what the trick is. Judging by local behavior and use of tools, I bet the best way to get around is to use a bike to get everywhere down over there. That or your dad's porsche.

Once you go to Stanford, you'll probably notice how many movies are shot here.
