Wow - too many Japanese tourists for my tastes. I took a quick picture showing I was here, looked through the glass and was out of there. As the first Starbucks I can see why people want to visit, but my gosh, you can get coffee elsewhere!

This is the first Starbucks. Located along the same street as the Pike Place Market, this Starbucks is packed with tourists clamoring to get coffee and the "1st Starbucks" mug.

This is the busiest Starbucks I've ever seen. It was absolutely packed with customers purchasing drinks and souvenirs specific to just this store. I wanted to get something from here for the novelty of it but was completely put off by the giant line.

Most people believe this is the first Starbucks ever. I learned on a food tour that these people are wrong. This is the second one. The first one is a block and a half away, and much less celebrated. Nevertheless, this is where you'll get the "first Starbucks" experience. They have a limited edition roast that doesn't get sold anywhere else (and it's delicious) and plenty of mugs and other paraphernalia that brags you went to the first Starbucks. Musicians and tourists waiting to take their picture outside abound, and lines are long even by Starbucks standards, but you can't beat the location. Right in the heart of Pike Place Market, there are plenty of food stands and product stands to browse nearby, or you can just relax on the lawn nearby and enjoy the view from the lawn -- on a clear day you can see Mt. Ranier.

One name: Mike
I had SUCH great service here. OMG. He recommended a drink that was SO amazing. All I remember that it had soy milk. You need to ask him for it. It was a iced drink and it had tea in it with soy milk. It was so good that I finished it within 3 min.
Loved Mike! He was so sweet and patient with me! :D
Drinks: I think the staff here are the original baristas (before baristas became popular). They really know their Starbucks drinks and even from the Secret menu (http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com…).
Ambiance: TINY store and with lots of history and only souvenirs you can get at this store that says PIKE PLACE.
They even have a gift card that you could only get at Pike Place :D
Yes... I got one.
If you love Starbucks, come here.

Yes, this IS the VERY first Starbucks. The historical landmark of the giant corporation we have come to know today as being on every street corner in a major city in the United States and counted on to be in every airport in the international terminal all over the world.
Ok, that being dramatically stated. This Starbucks is really no different from your standard Starbucks around the corner, except with a bunch of "THIS IS THE FIRST STARBUCKS EVER" souvenirs screaming in your face and long, long LONG lines of people getting the exact same coffee you can get at your local Starbucks.
Probably not worth the hype, but hey ... at least now I can say I've been and have a wonderful "FIRST STARBUCKS EVER" item to show for it.Recommended for:History Buffs
