This hotel is super close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants in Waikiki; however, it's a bit run down. I found 2 roaches in the room during my stay and the air conditioner blows straight into your face when you sleep. My room wasn't cleaned at all one of the evenings - strange. The pictures made this hotel looks chic and modern, but all the design are all very cheap. The wifi was so slow and I could barely login most is the time. I do have to say the service was quite good and the price for the location is unbeatable. If you aren't going to be in the hotel that often, this is the place to be.Recommended for:

Waikiki has the second-highest hotel room rate in the US (after NYC)--and I think if you're in a cool-kid mindset, Stay Hotel Waikiki is a pretty decent deal for the price. Nope, no pool, not even an outdoor patio, and the hotel is squeezed between some pretty mediocre-looking low-rise apartment units on sort of a back alley. But there's a lot going on in the area right around the hotel (such as a surf shop next door, several restaurants and a huge Hyatt right across the street) and Waikiki Beach is only a half-block away. Few Waikiki hotels have a hipster vibe, and those that do are really pricy. Stay includes fun treats like PlayStations in-room, a DVD rental machine, hanging lobby seating and sort of pop-art room decor. Plus, their restaurant/bar Sway just opened, and the menu's excellent--a great addition to the neighborhood. Don't, however, expect room luxury: they're tiny and cement-block walled, since this place was converted from some old dumpy building, and the closet is covered by a curtain, which I think feels cheap. But if you're on a budget and don't want to stay in some tired Island-style dump--and maybe want to meet like-minded travelers--I think this is your place.Recommended for:

The Stay Hotel Waikiki is a budget friendly boutique hotel. The hotel lobby is very sleek and modern! There are white couches facing a flat screen TV and some cool hanging rocking chairs to relax in. This hotel does not have a swimming pool but it is within walking distance (about 2 blocks away) from the beach. There is free Wifi and free continental breakfast. One of the features of this hotel is their bar and restaurant called Sway that just opened last month. Some dishes that they serve are burgers, sweet potato fries and chicken wings. This hotel is located near Historic King's Village (has shops and restaurants). It is also within walking distance of popular Waikiki attractions like the International Market Place, DFS Galleria and Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

If you can score a good deal, this is a pretty cool place to stay. The hotel offers just the basics: a room (a room with a really colorful, punchy design), free wifi and free continental breakfast, all just a block from Waikiki Beach. The hotel is also set right next-door to a surf shop where you can rent boards and other equipment. If you're coming to Waikiki to surf or explore the entertainment and cultural opportunities, then this is a great find. The hotel has a hip, vibrant feel that compliments the vibe of the entire city. You won't find worn floral bed coverings or faded maroon carpets here. Think pristine white bed linens and chairs shaped like a giant orange hand. The hotel also offers DVD rentals (for a fee), which is great if you need an afternoon of R&R after a long morning surf session. But don't stay here if you can't get a good rate. There are very few amenities, so you would probably get a better bang for your buck elsewhere.

Coming from a Poor Man as myself you should expect places like this from me...it's all about budgets and in Waikiki that can sometimes be hard to find. Now I don't like dives...but if I can find a Hotel that is decent, has new furnishings and has good service I usually recommend those places...Knowing you will only be spending your sleeping time here all you really need are those things I mentioned.
Considering this is a NEWER renovation in Waikiki, not many Travelers know of it and I was one of the first to inspect it before it opened because I was trying to find a place to send my Wayde's World Hawaii members looking to stay in Waikiki on a minimal budget...This is one of those spots I choose. I was also able to inspect every room option.
Stay Waikiki offers you a few options on accommodation selection. Depending upon budget and lifestyle, you can choose from am array of room types and amenities, from spacious junior suites to cozy bunk bed rooms for two. All rooms offer private baths. Some offer comfortable, airy lanais as well partial ocean views and is in PRIME LOCATION in Waikiki being only a 5 min walk to the sand of Waikiki beach.
The standard Queen room or the Deluxe larger Queen room is your best bet, however when I first went to look at these rooms the owners gave me cheaper prices that are now on their website...this is very upsetting to me and one of the main reasons I HAVE NOT made this a final choice for my members to stay at...This is how it broke down to me when I visited:
The Standard Queen Room was $99.00 and the Deluxe Queen Room was $109.99 These were AMAZING PRICES in my eyes, but what are these prices now? If you go to their website prices now very...WHY? WHY DO OWNERS DO THIS??? This is one of the things that HOOKED me on this place...I could tell my members the price and that is what they could expect to pay...again it looks like these guys sold out like every other hotel in Waikiki...
Now their prices for the Standard Queen are $130 and for the Deluxe Queen is $150...This is just insane to me...I don't know what happened or why they left this GREAT MODEL!
This place had such potential, but for what you get at these prices you can manage to stay and find an AQUA Hotel in Waikiki that is better...
NOTE: It's worth a try...if you call them ask about the $99 and $109 rooms see what they say...demand those prices, say you saw them somewhere, see what they say...see if they still will offer them to you...if they do... TAKE IT!!!!!! You will be hard pressed to find such prices for a hotel room in Waikiki and that is why I LOVED THIS PLACE when it just opened...you can't beat $99 and $109 for new Hotel rooms that are a 5 min walk across to Waikiki Beach!
If they are no longer offering these prices anymore it would be a damn same...considering they probably only offered these prices the first few months they opened is just friggin stupid and dumb to me!
Give them a call and try...see if they still offer their original grand opening prices...if not...skip it and find a AQUA HOTEL that fits your needs.
