I'm planning a quick 3-day, 2-night trip to Quebec City in late August with my husband, two boys (4 & 2 years old) and our 30-lb non-shedding Labradoodle. We choice Quebec City b/c they are really into the Catie Copley books and want to visit Catie's dog friend, Santol at the Chateau Frontenac. While CF is a very nice hotel, it looks a bit stuffy for our tastes. And I question the location-- seems a bit out of the 'action'. Any suggestions on where to stay with a dog and kids that easy access to the Old Town and a manageable walk over to the Chateau Frontenac for a visit?

Well, Chateau Frontenac is on the edge of the Old Town, that also puts it near a big park at the top of the cliff, and right beside the funicular, which I bet your kids will love. We didn't bring our son, but I think kids would be well received, and the location is pretty doable, and though some Old Town activities might be a little far, it's not that big an area.
