Just on the edge of the city of Cupertino, the Stevens Creek Reservoir is a great place to spend a warm summer afternoon! There is a large picnic area, a rocky shore area where kids and adults can splash in the water, plus Outback Adventures has a rental station here where you can rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards by the hour. The water is clean and varies in depth, and is a really fun way to spend the day!Recommended for:Family Travelers

When I was working in Cupertino, I'd run along Homestead then turn left to run up to Stevens Creek Resevoir. I wouldn't advise anyone else do that because it's mostly running on the shoulder of a twisty road where people are driving much too fast. Nearby there's even a shrine to cyclists killed on this road.
