Get a tea on their terrace, facing the sea. A colonial touch for this stylish hotel in Stone Town, where we normally make a stop, while going around in Stone Town.

    The Africa House Hotel

    The Africa House Hotel

Nice terrace bar at the back of hotel that overlooks the sea- also accessible from waterfront. Great sunset view that is packed out with one hour to sunset so get there early if you want a ringside seat. Good service- packed with tourists so a fair chance you are paying over the odds- worth it at sunset but probably not ...

My fiancee and I spend a night at the Al Johari en route to Nungwi. The accommodations were nice (free internet in the lobby) and the location was great.

Stone Town Cafe and Bed & Breakfast

Stone Town Cafe and Bed & Breakfast

    1 review

A great place for a quick, cheap, breakfast before heading out into the winding streets of Stone Town. The food was good (as you can see), but the coffee -- just plain black coffee -- was particularly good; it was easily the best I had while on my two week trip to Tanzania.

    Zanzibar Coffee House

    Zanzibar Coffee House

    1 review

We stayed for a night at the end of December 2011, after trying to locate a hotel room during Zanzibar's peak season. Although the website mentions a two night minimum, I was able to secure a room for one night, which was great. The only catch was that open room was a suite, which was fine even though there were ...

    Zenji Hotel

This place is only about a ten minute walk from Forodhani park, and is a solid value for the price. The rooms are small, but tasteful, clean and comfortable. There is a little rooftop breakfast area, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

    Victoria Guest House

    Victoria Guest House

    1 review

Quite basic, but also quite nice. I wasn't looking for many frills, and found all that I needed and more. This was a great base of operations, and I hope to stay here again someday. Just outside what feels like the "old" boundary of Stone Town, but everything, right down to the port, is walkable. Super friendly staff can arrange ...

    Victoria House

It's a fine line between hostel and hotel - this was a hotel, but hostel atmosphere. They can do great food on request, and have showers in the rooms, which is a nice touch. Location is good, though a bit far from the waterfront. Stay there long enough and you are sure to learn your way through Stonetown.

Right on the coast, with a bright blue pool and a beach to lay on right beside it. The food here is quite delicious, and most is prohibitively expensive. They do have some crab and lobster pasta on the menu though, which is more affordable and great value for the price.
