This hotel looks like something out of Bogart film - ornate interior and a spiral staircase. great art on the walls and the feeling of history everywhere. The best part is the fantastic rooftop bar - whether you're staying there or not be sure to drop by for a drink at sunset to watch the world go by.Popular with

Get a tea on their terrace, facing the sea. A colonial touch for this stylish hotel in Stone Town, where we normally make a stop, while going around in Stone Town.Popular with

My fiancee and I spend a night at the Al Johari en route to Nungwi. The accommodations were nice (free internet in the lobby) and the location was great.

This place is only about a ten minute walk from Forodhani park, and is a solid value for the price. The rooms are small, but tasteful, clean and comfortable. There is a little rooftop breakfast area, and the staff are friendly and helpful.Popular with

Quite basic, but also quite nice. I wasn't looking for many frills, and found all that I needed and more. This was a great base of operations, and I hope to stay here again someday. Just outside what feels like the "old" boundary of Stone Town, but everything, right down to the port, is walkable. Super friendly staff can arrange ...

It's a fine line between hostel and hotel - this was a hotel, but hostel atmosphere. They can do great food on request, and have showers in the rooms, which is a nice touch. Location is good, though a bit far from the waterfront. Stay there long enough and you are sure to learn your way through Stonetown.
