Stowe Village Historic District

VT
2 reviews

Stowe is basically a two-street town with historic churches and hotels sidled up to boutiques and fine dining restaurants. It's worth spending an afternoon to explore on foot. Check out the covered bridge, Shaw's general store and, my favorite, House of Jerky (a boutique jerky store).

Charming inn at a good location. We enjoyed our stay. The lady who helped us make our reservation was extremely helpful. She gave us ideas for things to do in the area. Breakfast bar was very good.

    Commodores Inn

0.24 mi from Stowe Village Historic District
    3 reviews
Good! - 77% of guests recommend

Like the famous Commodores song, this inn is “easy like Sunday morning.” The location isn’t the best – it’s on the far side of Stowe village from the mountain ski area – but the resort has room to spread out in across 30 acres of lakeside property. You can’t go wrong with multiple buffets, Jacuzzis and an indoor pool.

This place is amazing. Operated by an Englishman who came on holiday to Stowe and never left, it’s a cornucopia of Englishness in the heart of New England. When you walk into the lobby, you’re greeted by a real red English postbox embedded in the front desk. The hotel sells imported brown sauce from the old country, and the restaurant-bar ...

Excellent! - 85% of guests recommend

Like a golden eagle, this resort spreads its wings over a large area – the property sprawls both sides of Stowe’s Mountain Road. The resort’s fireside apartment buildings line the right side of the road as you drive from the village to the mountain; the resort accommodation, chalets, café, grill and health complex are to your left.

You won’t go hungry at Topnotch. The resort’s signature restaurant, Norma’s, serves four meals daily. In the mid-afternoon, a “light fare” menu fills the gap between lunch and dinner. This is great for skiers coming in ravenous from the winter slopes as dusk falls. The view from Norma’s is perhaps unparalleled in the area – the slight elevation from Mountain ...

Excellent! - 89% of guests recommend

Clean, charming, cheerful and – by Stowe standards – really cheap, Stowe Motel & Snowdrift sits at the base of the Stowe Recreation Path. This 5.5-mile paved path connects central Stowe to the Topnotch Resort further up the hill. During the long Vermont winter, the path is groomed for cross-country skiing, and Stowe Motel provides complimentary snowshoes to guests. When ...

This Inn is a little different to the luxury and budget resorts that line Stowe’s Mountain Road between the ski areas and the village center. It’s small, with just nine guest rooms and a breakfast room that’s closed to the public. The Inn is tucked away behind a belt of trees, and almost invisible from the road. When you climb ...

Stoweflake’s dining plan is both innovative and potentially cost-saving. In early 2012, an adult dining plan cost $60 per day and the children’s version was $30 per day. Considering the often high cost of eating out in Stowe, this could be a real bargain for the gourmand traveler. Stoweflake itself offers four-diamond-awarded dining in Winfield’s Bistro, or a more relaxed ...

The Riverside Inn is also at the intersection of two busy Stowe roads – Mountain Road to the ski areas and Luce Hill Road to the Trapp Family Lodge. It’s a nice cozy place, with unfussy accommodation in the historic main lodge and also in the newer motel building in the rear.
