I've never stayed here but it's always a stop when I go to Vegas. I made the mistake of going on the roller coaster that shoots off the side of the top. Never again.

It's fine. Nothing special. I've only stayed once. The thing is we just used the pool rooftop thing which was just fine. Other than showering and sleeping, we were hardly in our rooms so it didn't really matter where we stayed either way.

This hotel is located in the near end of north strip, one of older hotel in the strip. They famous for having the tallest building in the west coast, there's no hotel room in the tower at all. Instead they got a lounge and rotate restaurant also observation deck and other activities which are overpriced. This is more like one time visit, not likely you will return unless you are bringing someone. You can view the whole las vegas, but the view of the strip isn't that good, Palm will get much closer and better view of the strip.
I don't like the casino area, the smoke smell is strong and is confusing get to the elevator.

Stratosphere is a little bit off the strip frenzy, good if you're not really into the whole craziness. The rooms are huge, comfortable and you still have the slot machines and casino on the hall. There is a whole food and services court on the way to the tower and a Starbucks for quick fixes on the ground floor. Guests have free access to the tower.

Somehow, I've ended up at the Stratosphere hotel more times than I can count. Usually, it's because everywhere else on the Strip is booked out or else crazy expensive. The rooms are small (with many "views" overlooking an ugly parking garage) and check-in is usually a time-consuming experience. None of the restaurants on-site, except for the pricey Top of the World atop the Stratosphere Tower, are really worth trying. Last time I stayed here, hotel guests got complimentary tower admission before noon, which will save you some dough if you want to go up the tower, although sunset is really the best time to be up there so you can see the neon lights of the Strip turn on. Anyway, overall this hotel will do in a (penny) pinch.

I usually stay here while in Vegas when I need to pay for a hotel. It's technically on the Strip, but it's far up on the North side of it. The only thing close by is the Sahara which is now closed. The next closest casino is Circus Circus and it's quite a walk.
The hotel rooms are clean and recently updated. Prices are slightly cheaper than most places on the Strip since this isn't exactly on the Strip and it's at the beginning of the slightly seedy area of Vegas. Around $100/night is typical.
I enjoy gambling here because you can find plenty of table games where it's $5-$10 minimum during the weekend, unlike most of the Strip casinos where $15 if you are lucky is the minimum.
The pool area is decent. There is a bar and plenty of towels.
The observation deck is free to hotel guests during the day with a pass that comes with your fun book. (but honestly, who wants to go up there during the day?)

If you're looking for a great place to stay with an affordable rate in Las Vegas, look no further. The rooms have been redone. The staff is ridiculously hospitable. The place is at the top of the Strip but you can easily make your way to the Strip via car or taxi. It's a short ride but worth the savings. Or you don't have to go very far at all to experience all that Las Vegas has to offer.

We took the room on the 15th floor with no smoking option. The room was good and the queen sized bed was pretty decent for a group of 4. The only thing I did not like about room was the shower has less light and I like light during my shower. The room costs about 180 dollars for 3 nights. Split that across 4 and you get a really good price. Also the service people would come into room even if we did not ask for service. Felt that was weird. The casino is not something that I enjoyed. It is far from the strip but staying here opens up the option of doing more things in Vegas. Plus the RTC bus stops right in front of the hotel so you can come as late as 1. That is a good and a bad thing. I definitely do not recommend walking in the night no matter how big your group is.
