A beautiful place to walk around or have a picnic, the Botanical Gardens are one of my favorite spots in Golden Gate Park. The landscape is divided up by plants according to their country of origin, and there is a nice little lake and bridge in the middle of the gardens. It gets pretty crowded on sunny weekends, but even on a cold and windy day it is peaceful just walking through this green wonderland.

This is a beautiful Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. When we happened upon this place it had a beautiful Butterfly exhibit. This place really started me on the Butterfly exhibits and other Botanical Gardens. A must go see. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful setting.

Lovely botanic garden in Golden Gate Park. Many of the habitats have small dirt paths running through them that make the gardens feel much more intimate and wild. The cloud forests and the redwood grove are really awesome.

When I was a kid, I'd come to the Botanical Gardens to feed the non-Crunch Berry parts of my Cap'n Crunch to the ducks. I suppose this is what separates man from animal, truly: that we do not settle for anything less than Crunch Berries.
Beautiful and free, the gardens also occasionally host live music. If you are new to the city or have guests, this is a great place for a casual walk. Additionally, being in nature really reminds us to disconnect.Recommended for:Family Travelers
