The best coffee in New York City, period. I always stay at the Ace Hotel when I'm in town, so it's mighty convenient to walk right downstairs and pop in for my morning Americano. If the line is looking ridiculous (and it does for much of the day), just grab a seat in the Ace Lobby and a waitress will happily bump your order to the front of the line. Don't forget to tip!

This Portland, OR coffee roaster has only one branch in NYC, which only adds to its allure. Housed at the Ace Hotel on 29th street, this little coffee shop will satisfy all your caffeine needs. My go-to is an Americano, but lately, I've been enamored with their Iced Coffee, which is cold-brewed and comes in an adorable twist-cap glass bottle. A strong, milky brew—without the milk! I have no idea how they did that, but it is delicious and addictive. Even though it's winter, the weather is quite mild this year, so you won't get strange looks from the (very hipster-looking) baristas if you order an Iced Coffee.

An Espresso lovers dream come true! Some of the best coffee I've ever had and my tiny bite of their peanut butter cookie was heavenly. Simple and excellent quality. Enjoy it in the Ace Hotel lobby.

This one of Portland's top coffee roasters and this is there first NYC location (I think they also have a roaster in Brooklyn now). NYC has been really adding great coffee options over the last couple of years and this is one of them. Great espresso based drinks or coffee.

The coffee bar is inside the ACE hotel (another Portland import) and there's a really cool common area that is shared between the coffee bar, the hotel lobby and a restaurant in the hotel. Seating can be a bit tough sometimes but if you can get it there are a mix of comfortable chairs, a lounge area and a large communal table with individual lights that are good for reading or using laptops.

If you are willing to wait and endure the long-line (note: arrived just before noon on Saturday) and are not put off by a hipster vibe, Stumptown offers a cup of coffee made with care and enthusiasm. They offer a personal Chemex brew, which I tried with one of their many available (15+) single-origin coffees. You can also get the standard drip, a French press brew, or one of many espresso-based drinks.

I would also recommend sitting and enjoying the Ace hotel lobby, which has an interesting atmosphere and a great seating area (if you can find a seat!) I was able to grab a spot on, of all things, a bearskin-covered couch.

Good coffee but bring cash. Everything they serve is extremely well made and is worth getting. My favorite part about going to Stumptown is sitting in the Ace Hotel Lobby. Its a dimly lit plush environment where one can sit back and enjoy a cappucino in peace. Its hard to find that solitude in this city.

    BEST MOCHA in town.

European, hipster flare coffee bar with a simple menu.

I am addicted to their mocha with whipped cream.

Not sweet with a hint of real chocolate flavor. The way I like it.

Very nice and efficient service staff, they know how to make good coffee, PERIOD.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you're in the hood and need a quick caffeine fix.

I love the coffee they serve here, almost all varieties. I think the highlight though is the beautiful sitting room they have behind the shop which is shared with a few other stores. It is dimly lit, with massive furniture and resembles a living room in a Middle Ages castle.

Plain and simple...the best coffee hands down. Even if the guys and gals dress like they are from 1940. Love go and try it
