In Seattle, there's literally a cafe on every corner and a staggering number of them are awesome. The thing that makes Stumptown a cut above the rest is the fact that they roast their own beans right at the cafe. There are even seats down in the roasting area so curious patrons can watch how their perfect cup gets made. This is one roaster that really respects its beans.

Smooth tasting coffee. A little pricey though. Pictured: latte

I love the mochas here because they aren't sickly-sweet like most places. The grind is smooth and perfectly executed every time. Yeah, so they got bought by a big corporation, their coffee is still good.

One of Portland's best coffee roasters. This Seattle location is in one of the more trendy, up and coming parts of town. The interior is reasonably large and the coffee is amazing!
