I've never actually skied Sugarbush, which is strange because I used to be there a few days every year. Sugarbush used to be home to one of the most ridiculous and challenging races I've ever personally watched. Known as the Sugarbush Adventure Games, it involved running, nordic skiing, biking and paddling in late March / early April. Sometimes it was snowing, but it was quite an experience. From attending these races, I learned what a warm and friendly atmosphere there is around Sugarbush. I'd love to go back to ski sometime!

This mountaintop village/resort in Vermont may have some of the friendliest staff I've encountered in quite some time! Just quiet enough and off the radar if you really want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Vermont offers a family friendly and comparable ski-town experience to that of Vail/Aspen Colorado and at half the price. Will definitely be coming back soon!

The best resort on the East Coast, Sugarbush is a fantastic ski resort and the terrain provides options for every level of skier, offering everything from great beginner runs to incredibly challenging bump runs and a ton of tree trails. 2012 has not been a great snow year in Vermont, but they are constantly making snow at Sugarbush and we were pleasantly surprised to find all of the runs open, when we were there in early February of this year. My husband and I love to ski and we are thrilled to have an option as good as Sugarbush only a few hours away from the city.
