Loved this place. It was something to do other than the beach and that didn't involve a long car ride - critical since we had a one year old with us. Our toddler loved feeding the goats. We bought some delicious cheese and had a scrumptious lunch. I was tempted to take home a kid (meaning baby goat; I already had one to take home!)

No, the goats at the Surfing Coat Dairy don't grab their long boards and head to the beach to "hang 20" (or whatever number of toes goats have) when "surf's up!" But you will find them climbing onto the surfboards in the penned areas of this interesting "foodie" destination, just "Upcountry" on Maui.
While you can pull in, snap a quick photo of the goats, and hit the road, I'd highly recommend taking one of the tours that the farm offers. And be sure to taste the goat cheese --- the "Purple Rain" made with Maui lavender was my favorite, but every one of the varieties I tasted were as good as comparable high-end goat cheeses that one can buy from top supermarkets and produces if the food-crazed San Francisco Bay Area where I live.
This is a good stop for kids as well as adults. They'll be fascinated by the critters and may have a chance to feed them during a tour.

What a nice place to learn about small farm operations, feed the goats, learn about cheese making, and taste some fresh and creamy goat cheese. Not too farm from Hana Hwy and Haleakala National Park is Surfing Goat Diary Farm. A great place to bring the keikis and visitors. Definitely sample some of the variety of goat cheeses they have, it's soo good. Order some food or cheese snacks make on the farm.

If you hear people talk about the "up-country", this is it! The drive to the Surfing Goat Dairy is worth the trip just for the scenery! Then...you get to the dairy and there is WONDERFUL cheese! They do fun tours and cheese tasting but you can also just purchase a sampler and enjoy a picnic on the beautiful patio!

Surfing Goat Dairy is a great stop on an afternoon foodie tour of Upcountry Maui. Sample award winning goat cheeses and meet the cute baby goats! Farm tours are offered too. I usually like to combine with a visit to the Alii Kula Lavender Farm too.

Surfing Goat has a lot to like. Goats, food and views. They have tours of the farm or you can just stop by to look at the goats and try some of their terrific cheeses (best feta ever). cheesecake or chocolate truffles. I take everyone who visits here.
