    Petticoat Lane Market

An interesting morning to just observe or have a good bargain on new items ranging from socks to kitchen utensils. More than a thousand stalls spread over two streets make up Petticoat Lane Market. This East End market which has been operating since the 1750's or earlier, is named after the petticoats and lace once sold there. Not a touristy ...

You had me at Smeg Fridge. As if BarChick didn't love The Breakfast Club enough already. Stroll in casually looking like you're after some breakfast, then announce "I'm here to see the Mayor". This is your access code to get you through that Smeg fridge and into one of BarChick's favourite underground hangouts. Ian the owner says it was inspired ...

Was first introduced to The Drift Bar during a Canadian themed networking event. They far surpassed my expectations with their food and drink. For a Canadian girl living abroad, I'll take a little slice of home where I can get it. This is one of those places, serving, both Canadian Whiskey and Caesars it's hard to pass up a night ...

We discovered it in our first trip to London. Tower 42 is the hignest skyscraper in the City. At the top of the building, you can enjoy the finest wines and food (especially bakeries - as french people, we had to notice ;)), while watching the great view of London. A little bit costy but really worth it! Traditionnal but ...

We visit Tate Modern every time we are in London. The permanent collection changes and there is always some interesting temporary exhibition. There is no admission fee. We also always visit the 7th floor restaurant for the reliably good menu and the excellent view.

This market is my favourite in the world. It has a charming atmosphere, and there are many reasonably priced foods to pick up. They have a fantastic selection of homemade preserves of interesting flavours, and delectable street foods made fresh before your eyes.

Very modern in design, the Millennium Bridge connects two very important landmarks/monuments/museums, St Paul's and the Tate Modern over the Thames. Almost like bridging between the old and new.

A nifty helical pedestrian bridge spanning the river from St. Paul's Cathedral to the Tate Modern in Southbank. It's a fabulous place for a spot of photography (great buildings and architecture around here), and makes for a scenic walk.

People rave about Brick Lane. I certainly can understand its appeal, but I can't help feeling it's become - dare i say it - overrated. Yes this is a vintage shoppers paradise, and yes it's super quirky and hipster, but this can give it a slightly pretentious feel, which for me causes the street to lose some of its "cool".

This market is part of the gentrification of East London. The market offers a variety of interesting shops and some good restaurants right in an area which used to be economically depressed but is now humming with activity.

Hyde Park (not Hide Park). Beautiful park and in the summer, make sure you check out the Serpentine Gallery summer pavilion (which may technically being in Kensington Gardens but these two parks overlap), which changes every year. Pop into the Serpentine as well as they often have good art.
