Location, location, location. Nothing particularly special, but decent prices, clean rooms, and in the heart of North Beach, no more than a 15-min walk from Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, downtown, etc. There's a calming Chinese decor influence (SW stands for Sam Wong) with waterfall paintings and bamboo-themed furniture. I like hard mattresses, which helped. In loud North Beach, an interior room is reallllllly helpful.

For me, the best thing about this hotel was it's location - right between Chinatown and North Beach (Little Italy), two of my favorite areas of SF. We picked a upper, corner room overlooking Broadway and really felt like we were in the heart of it all. It's also relatively central and easy to get to many of the other area to explore in SF - The Embarcadero, Fisherman's Wharf, Downtown. The hotel itself was great, with clean, well-kept accomodations and good service, and limited noise. Stay here if you want to experience the hustle and bustle of ethnic SF.Recommended for:

At the very edge of Chinatown and North Beach sits the SW Hotel, which means there’s plenty (and I mean *plenty*) of action to be had. Hot bars and restaurants are located just a few steps away (Rosewood, for example, is just across the street). The Financial District is also two big blocks away.
I was surprised when I first stepped into the lobby. The decor was tranquil, pretty. I really liked the Chinese theme that was strewn about, and there was something very peaceful and introspective about it all. The staff were, from the beginning, very friendly and down-to-earth.
The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. I appreciated the color scheme (you can tell I loved the look of this hotel!). From the room, you could see all the action of Broadway Street below, yet it was quiet and peaceful inside.
