Triple berry cake - one of my favorite cakes in LA. Fresh blueberries, strawberries and raspberries encased in freshly whipped cream, with vanilla cake. HUGE slices. Only bummer is if you want to eat there - there's very little space to eat in and usually all the tables are taken when it's the busiest. I have always gotten my slices to go. And they've all been GREAT. Service is good too, and one of the few bakeries I know open late.

Sweet Lady Jane specializes in delicious, super fancy desserts! I love the fruit tart here. Sweet Lady Jane is in the Melrose Place area, so it's an easy walk for a break in between shopping at Marc Jacobs or Vera Wang. Or, grab dessert here after brunch at Taste.Recommended for:

I wasn't sold on Sweet Lady Jane until very recently. Their desserts, pastries, and breads were always good. Before I would always get surly service from the people here. Not anymore. It seems they've gotten some new blood and they are much more welcoming. A good tip is to come around closing time. They give you any of the left over bread from the day. It's a good way to stock up on bread if you're feeling cheap.

Triple Berry Shortcake!!! (seriously. it's amazing.) You can get whole cakes or just a (massive) single slice. You really can't go wrong here - plus take time to appreciate how intricately decorated each cake is! Each cake has a specific decoration assigned to it. Don't try to ask that they don't put flowers on the cake ... they'll tell you no.
