I took a drive down the coast line from the north towards Sydney and it's surrounding areas. Australia is beautiful and especially in the areas around Sydney.

i LOVED Sydney. it is all that I want in one city. it has a city area which is on par with San Francisco and beautiful beaches. the Sydney harbor is just an amazing view. I could sit there for hours. friendly people, easy mass transit system, safe for women traveling alone, and some of the most beautiful people I have ever seen.

Sydney is a beautiful and dynamic (but expensive) city. The harbors and the Opera House are must-sees, as are many of the beaches (especially Manly and Bondi). Can't wait to plan a return visit someday.

To me, Sydney is like San Diego and London had a baby. It's cool, hip, and Bohemian at the same time that it's cosmopolitan, bustling, and multicultural. I fell in love with Sydney the day I arrived, and still pine for its sun-drenched streets, sparkling harbors, and endless array of things to do. Yes, it's expensive (the #2 most expensive city in the world), but with a little research and smarts, you can easily get by on a modest budget.

Sydney is a wonderful place, clean, warm and safe. It has a range of interesting museums, shops, restaurants and cafes. Its a wonderful place to walk around, every corner has something worth seeing. You could spend a week there and not scratch the surface.

Sydney is a great city of some 3 million people, and it reminds me a lot like a larger San Francisco.
You have the great bridges and vistas, the bay waters, and the ferries to an fro. You have the Chinatown area, the Gay district, the great shopping, and the tourists traps, too. There is also great food selections with cuisines from all over the world, with the local seafood allowing for creative chefs to design new delights. And you have the great wines sourced from the nearby Hunter Valley region to choose from, making a name for themselves all over the world.
There is a lot to do and see in this sprawling city. And perhaps it's only weakness is its poorly planned infrastructure as the city grew, creating traffic tie ups that are not unlike San Francisco freeways, too.
